Concept2 Utilities under Linux?
Has anyone found a way to get the Concept2 Utilities to run under Linux, well enough to read the USB key and upload workouts to the online logbook? Failing that, I would be curious to hear what others do, who don't have ready access to a Windows or Mac machine. For example, does one or another of th...

Does anyone stock ergs to sell in Toronto?
Is there anyone (like a store) that stocks ergs in Toronto, Canada? I am looking for a black Model D with a PM3 or better and I would rather avoid shipping, taxes, and brokerage fees on a new one if I can't find anything suitable used.

Re: Physics and biophysics of the Dynamic Indoor Rower
OK, so the stretcher acts essentially just like the handle of the static (with appropriate gearing), connected by a chain running inside the lower rail. Got it. Then what about the cord from the handle? Does it also connect to the flywheel through it's own linkage, with the cord running alongside th...

Re: Physics and biophysics of the Dynamic Indoor Rower
Thanks, but the official video doesn't answer my question, which seeing the Dynamic up close would probably answer at a glance: what is the linkage (there must be one!) which connects the footrests to the flywheel? Is it built in to the bottom rail? So, are there two cords going to the flywheel, one...

Re: Physics and biophysics of the Dynamic Indoor Rower
Can you link the video, please? I have the same question: how is the footrest connected?

Re: Big guy rowing - video feedback requested
What's up with his high hands and bent wrists at the end of the drive? I have been trying to keep my hands a bit lower and wrists straight lest I invite carpal tunnel problems. Yes, very interesting that his shins don't even come to vertical most of the time. I have not been pushing it as hard in th...

Re: Big guy rowing - video feedback requested
At the catch his shins are well past vertical, butt nearly at heels. His forward lean is not a lot. I noticed exactly the same thing, and this is similar to what I have been doing -- I feel better about it now, as I can force more forward lean and keep my shins vertical, but it feels like more of a...

Re: Big guy rowing - video feedback requested
Wow, quite the discussion... If you look at my video carefully, you will see that I am rowing OTW. The water is in the red water bottle directly under the erg. :) Yesterday I tried turning the DF down to 125, and rowing 5000m alternating 500m segments at 25 and 30 SPM while keeping an eye on the for...

Re: Big guy rowing - video feedback requested
Thanks for the debate; most informative. I am experimenting with lower drag factors and higher stroke rates... I will report after another session or two. Glad I asked!

Re: Big guy rowing - video feedback requested
Thank you for the further feedback. Yes, by belly is definitely in the way. My BMI is over 30, which makes me "obese." Full stop. I am told I carry it well, etc., but that doesn't change the ratios or the girth. I own this, and here I am, doing something about it. I have just finished two weeks of r...

Big guy rowing - video feedback requested
I am 6'6" tall, 262 pounds, 46 years old. I have rowed 113,500 meters in the last two weeks... on my way to a million meters, so I can get that t-shirt! Please critique my form and technique http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr9-QEJQB9A . Looks to me like I'm rolling a bit far forward with the shins pa...
