Re: Dirt on rollers

Railroads use lubrication on the rails to reduce wear of train wheels. Track greasers actuated by passage of trains are only employed on trackage sections of extreme curvature and only to the inboard, vertical face of rail which contacts the vertical face of wheel flange. The issue dealt with is he...

Re: Dirt on rollers

I don't think using oil is a good idea. As has been pointed out, it just collects more dust on the rail. Not sure what effect it would have on the plastic rollers either. I think keeping it clean and dry is the best advice. I'm with you but each to their own. I do however wipe the slide and put a c...

Just get the right USB cable for your mobile phone charger and plug the PM5 into the mains supply.
I have never been able to get this trick to work. The session just ends or the monitor powers off like normal. It seems to work for everyone else though.

I have been using baby oil to clean the rail and rollers for about 5 years. Like you, it works well to prevent the buildup and bumps you get when using things like Windex.
Best advice ever. Tried it and rail and rollers stay slick and clean. Thanks.
Glad it helped.

Re: Best padded seat

I've used Serfas Rx seats on my indoor and outdoor bikes with great success. They are the only seats that I can use comfortably. There are a few different models and they can be specific to men and women due to bone structure differences. This is the one I use: https://www.amazon.com/Serfas-Mens-Per...

Re: Bikeerg- Replacing pedals

I would recommend clipless SPD type pedals over clips or toe straps since you will be able to get 360 degree engagement in your pedaling rather than just on the down stroke. While not the same bike, I replaced the pedals on my spin bike with the Shimano A520. If you have cycling shoes with cleats, t...

Re: Dirt on rollers

All good advice. Much appreciated. It’s just the one guy who experiences the need to clean during a workout that’s concerning. I’ve read here that this is a continuous issue. What kicked this all off for me was seeing a lumpy build up on a new machine after less than 60 minutes of use. This would i...

Re: Type of oil for the rower chain

Ikea has a 20wt mineral oil called Skydd at US$5.99 for a 500ml bottle. It doesn't specifically say 20wt, but I compared it with the C2 mineral oil and it was indistinguishable, unlike the heavy laxative mineral oils from the pharmacy that are more like 30 or 40wt. I've been using the Ikea oil for a...

Re: RowPro 3.0 Going Bonkers

I think its time to get 4.3, there is a special on at present and it will include 5.0 when its released. Version 5.0 is included if you buy 4.3 now? Did it mention that on the Rowpro website or somewhere? Yes it is, the licence number you will be issued with will run both. Not sure if its mentioned...

Re: Heart Rate Monitor

I don't think softened water should be an issue. Naturally soft water would have few minerals or electrolytes, but hard water run through a water softener has calcium and magnesium replaced with salt. I have a water softener and use that water with my chest strap with no problem. If softened water d...

Amazon sells a number of electrode gels. I read that Aloe Vera gel works almost as well, but have been successful with just warm water myself.

How does the PM5 connect with ErgData wirelessly? The C2 website says you need either the iphone or android connection kit to do so.

Re: PM5 Problems

I too had been planning to upgrade to the PM5 mainly for the backlight feature, but with all the issues with USB drives I am no longer considering it. I use the logcard to record all workouts on my PM4 and it works flawlessly. It appears the PM5 USB drive feature is nowhere close that that reliable....
