Re: Butt sores

I'm glad I found this post. I rowed my first half marathon Saturday, and my butt is so sore that I can't row Sunday or Monday. I felt the pain halfway through my row, but I ignored the pain and I kind of regret it

Glad you all have some suggestions, so I will try them out.

Re: Back at it (again)

Yeah my problem i've been trying to get under control is 2 fold. I eat way too much, which includes lots of carbs, and sugar. Lately i've been wanting to actually eat healthier because it's hard to perform well on the rower after stuffing your face with McDonald's.

Re: Marathon?? Anyone attempting it.

Pretty pumped that I just finished my first ever half marathon :D

The farthest I have gone before was a 10k, so this was a big jump for me. Now I just got to focus on getting a half decent time

Re: new to rowing

My friend and I recently started rowing together, both of us are out of shape, but he is heavier than I am. He is 6' 270lbs, and i'm 5'8 180lbs. I row 46 - 47 min 10k he hasn't rowed a 10k yet, but he generally stays at 2:45 pace which would be 55 min. hope that helps give you a guesstimate. I think...

Back at it (again)

Greetings everyone, so i've been rowing on and off since 2k12 (mostly off), and each time I learn something new. Previously I would obsess with getting better EVERY work out, even if it was just a marginal improvement. Problem was that it took the joy out of rowing, and I dreaded working out. I've l...

Re: Marathon?? Anyone attempting it.

As with many things a lot is acclimatisation... More time you spend in the seat, the easier it becomes There is a big difference however between completing a FM and completing a fast FM. Completely agree! Many people run marathons, but very few can do it competitively. For some people just completi...

Re: Marathon?? Anyone attempting it.

I just started rowing about a month ago after taking a year off (never been hardcore rower), and noticed the article for the marathon event. Sounds like something I would like to do once, but I won't really be in shape to do it this year. I might try to do the half marathon, but even that is a stret...

Re: Rowing schedule?

i'm working on finding what works for me in terms of rowing schedule too. I get in sort of a "groove" when I work out back to back days, and when I take a day or two off then it takes me awhile to find that groove again. That doesn't mean I have to go all out every time, some days i'll just do a 2k ...

Well I was planning on being more productive for the Virtual team challange, but I've been sick with the flu :(

I tried rowing last night, but my lungs are shot. Hopefully i'll be back rowing soon!

I see that some people have rowed 45,000M+ in a day, how is that possible? Maybe i'm doing something wrong :?

Re: Losing weight by not working at it ;-)

I think it depends on the person, and what motivates them to work out. I used to enjoy working out and watching the scale go down, because at that time I really needed to lose weight. At this point in my life i'm not nearly as heavy, so working to get slim isn't as important, and I don't find it as ...

Re: LUNA-TICS TEAM ROOM: Year-round "Looney" fun.

I'm excited for the virtual team challange :D My goal is to consistently put in 30 minute rows, which is a good work out for me. I rowed 30 minutes on Saturday and Sunday, but my left leg is really sore today. Kinda weird it's just my left leg, but it should go away by the time the challange starts.

Re: Need to Lose 80 lbs.

Good afternoon, I can offer some suggestions to you since I have lost 88 lbs (about 10 to go by choice) and my waist is 15 inches smaller. I have really changed my diet and workout routine over the past 5 months. I drink soy protein shake every 3 hours (from bodysolutionsystems) for a total of 5 pe...
