Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Did my first serious 30r20 row today. Oof. I didn't quite know how to pace it, and went out a bit hard at a 2:06 or 175W. It felt fine for the first ~10min, but I nearly gave up at the 18min mark. Instead, took a minute of active rest (dropped my pace from 2:06 to 2:30) and then did the last 11min ...

Re: Goal: ALL PB!
I set most of my standing PBs ten years ago. I was younger and fitter then, but I was also just starting out on the erg. While I've had an on again/off again relationship with the erg since then, occasionally using it a bit more frequently and seriously, I haven't come close to those first PBs. The ...

Re: Longest row pre half marathon.
I can't speak well to the workouts leading up to your HM (I had rowed several 10k and hour sessions, plus a single 90min leading up to my first), but I wanted to chime in with a couple of notes for your HM row. Get as comfortable as possible, since you will be at it for ca 100min. Have a towel and y...

Re: Row erg in the gym
When I rowed regularly at the gym at work, I didn't offer advice to anybody flailing about painfully with the damper at 10 and a pace of 3:00/500 and SR of 34, but I'd chuckle to myself. More importantly, because the ergs there were a limited resource, I didn't want to try to encourage anyone else t...

Re: Returning to rowing after vasectomy
I was on a bit longer hiatus from rowing around the time I got mine, so I don't know how long it would have taken to get back into it after the vasectomy, but I can say I had and continue to have minor issues with sensitivity when I row. It mainly happens when things aren't properly adjusted. As lon...

Re: Max heart rate
If you think your max is 180 and you do long/slow at 70% = 126 and later discover that your actual max is 190... it made no read training difference. You could have targeted 190 x 70% = 133 instead of 126, but it won't make a difference in your training outcome. Some people do their long/slow at 65...

Re: Plateau Advice
A question on your adoption of the Pete Plan, because there were recommendations in the thread to reduce the rest duration during your 500m intervals, but PP calls for long rests between intervals, did you adopt Pete's long rests?

Re: Ergdata and PM5
After 4 years, is this still true? That past rows when not logged in can't be pulled into Logbook? "Is there a way for me to pull those down into Ergdata? Or if not is there another way to pull those." BLUF: There's a way, but it's easier to use ErgData from the get-go to log your workouts. As far ...

Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
I understand for some reason that if you have a USB drive in your PM5 and use ERGData, the ERGData program will not upload/sync with the online logbook for some reason and also would update Garmin Connect. ~80% of my workouts with ErgData 2.0 have been smooth, even with the USB drive in the PM5. At...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
I was dumb or ambitious or both today, and decided to follow a 15x1:00/1r interval workout yesterday with a season best attempt at a 10k today. A successful attempt, so maybe not that dumb if I don't see any setbacks from not going light today as planned. Season best 10k puts me above the 50th perce...

Re: Do I have any talent after 3 sessions?
Like this https://youtu.be/_Y6YaPpYzs0 🤣 Oh, I have seen ~r40 when I was doing an arms only drill like that guy was. But then again, my pace was nowhere near 1:12... More seriously thanks for the various notes, I do see where the shortened drive and increased rate might be beneficial for the sprint...

Re: Major ergdata update? Looks awesome!
Thanks, found it all. Every single box can be set to whatever number we want. Did so, and unsurpringly the hard work then began. The volume of information you can opt to consume through the ergdata display during a workout has felt overwhelming to me at times. I think I'm zeroing in on what is righ...

Re: Do I have any talent after 3 sessions?
I'm kind of curious, because I've seen the 40+ stroke rate referenced before, but I struggle to get a stroke rate above 30 spm without form going completely out the window so I can't even imagine it, how does one achieve a stroke rate in the 40s+?
