Re: Recommendations on how to get started?
Thanks jamesg and hjs. I will focus hard on technique. So far, it seems as if my biggest issues are in the recovery. What type of stroke rate should I be targeting? Does it even matter, or should I just go with what's comfortable right now? (Which seems to be around 20 - 22 spm.)

Re: Recommendations on how to get started?
Thanks, SirWired! Didn't know that about the shock cord, so I'll look into it. I'll get some 20 weight oil tomorrow. Yes, I agree with you that the UK site is more comprehensive. Technique is something I'm somewhat obsessing over now - I think it's so easy to row away with improper technique, but th...

Recommendations on how to get started?
Yay! Just picked up a Model C on Craigslist - $400, and really lightly used (as in, just a shade under 17000 metres). So, I'm well pleased with that. About myself: 42 yrs, male, 6'5" and 245pds. Thanks for all the replies - I'm heartened both that it seems like a standard model will work, and that this is a great community willing to help out. I'll be rowing soon, and asking for more help I'm sure!

Re: Your height, and Concept 2 (good for tall people)?
Thanks SirWired and NavigationHazard. Good advice to go to a gym to check - my concern is that my technique will be all wrong to start, so I won't be able to tell if it will work when rowing properly. But I'm more reassured now that I can use the standard model. Now if I can only find one used . . ....

Your height, and Concept 2 (good for tall people)?
Newb here, thinking about getting a Concept 2 (preferably used), but not too sure if it will work for me. I'm 6'5", with an inseam of 36" - which is exactly the maximum height that customer service at Concept 2 says should work with the standard model. They do offer one with a longer monorail, but I...
