At the moment im pouring oil into an old t shirt and running the chain through that but the problem is, its quite messy and if i get any on the carpet, my girlfriend will kill me. Any help? ...

Things to look for when buying second hand
I'm buying a second hand rower tomorrow and going to pick it up, chances are it may be an ex gym machine but apparently its in good condition and i cannot complain about the price.
Could some people give me some things that i should obviously check before i buy.....and any tips on basic maintenance.

I'm not trying to put on mass to great degrees, its just since rowing 5 days a week nearly for 6-7 weeks and 3 times a week before that, im skinny, and want a bit more definition, so thought protein shake, just 1 afterwards would help with my arms /abs/back etc.... So you reckon lower damper, higher...

Speed vs Strength
Ok, i row 5 evenings a week and last night i did 10k at about an average speed of 26/27 SPM on Damper 3. On this setting i did my PB 10k time, 45 mins 30 secs (not amazing i know). Im 5"9 24, 72kg. Now if i try and do 10k in a similar time on say damper 4-5 i physically ache more arms legs back etc....
Clothing
Sorry if this is in the wrong bit but its the most updated bit so i thought i would get more responses... When im doing 10k i get a SORE BUTT. Simply, what clothing is good to remedy this, padded cycling shorts all seem to be well padded on the crotch but not on the actual bum bit that you sit on, a...

After having 6 days off due to Easter and illness i have done 2 8k's in 2 days and my gosh they have been hard, when i try to do lower stroke rates i just cant keep them for much longer than 2k, but then again, a higher stroke rate will give me a better cardio workout so i presume it is not all bad....

Ok, ill take that all on board. The only thing i have noticed from events on youtube is a lot of people lean back on the final pull, where as the diagrams say not to lean and to keep your back straight. Also, i really find im hunching foward and really making a long pull with the bar, meaning the ba...
