Re: Is 9 minutes a bad 2k erg time???
Don't let that deter you! You've got good height and you seem passionate about the sport! Keep on erging, that is the only way you'll get faster. Plenty of SS workouts, combined with a few intervals here and there. Check this site out - you enter your age, amount of sessions per week, resting heart ...

Getting back into a 1X after a long winter off
Hi all, Just wondering, I will be officially getting back on the water in a little bit less than a month from today. Naturally, I'm a bit concerned to be getting back into a 1X - despite having fine-tuned my balance in the Fall, I feel as though I've lost my sense of equilibrium after a long winter ...

Re: Silly question => black vs grey Model D
I have a black one, and I have to say that I love it - I think the black itself is a more aggressive color (also symbolic of the erg being synonymous with pain, haha). In the end, it's up to you, but 10/10 would buy a black one again if I could go back to the time when I purchased my erg.

Re: which single to get?
You know what I've realized? You should do what makes you happy. If I were you, and money were not an issue, I would buy the '07. Since this is something that you will be having for many years, it will be worth the extra 1k. The fact that the deck was replaced on the '05 is a bit disconcerting, for ...

Re: Erging in a small studio apartment, help!
Or just leave a note on his door. Actually, maybe even leave a note in the lobby of your floor letting people know what that whooshing sound is and ask them to let you know if anyone has any issues with your scheduled workouts. A C Breeze might help too reduce noise too along with keeping you cool....

Re: Erging in a small studio apartment, help!
Thank you , Joe! That is one simple suggestion that I didn't even consider, sadly, haha. I actually just went over to speak with one of my neighbors on one side of the apartment and she said she had no problem with it. Now to catch the guy who lives on the other side, he's a mysterious one...

Re: Erging in a small studio apartment, help!
This is very true, I think I was trying to get at the "white noise" sound with the water, but you're right, even cold water will add up in the long run (considering I am erging 4 days per week). Thanks for your response!

Re: Erging in a small studio apartment, help!
Thank you all for the responses. I may have been hyperbolic, but as far as NYC studio apartments go, it is small. I do have enough room to store and to set up the erg though. I will definitely try some of the suggestions above. As of right now, I've returned back from work on my extended lunch hour ...

Erging in a small studio apartment, help!
Hi all, I've done some research and I've seen the previous posts about those who own ergs in small apts. Storing the erg is not a problem for me, but the noise absolutely is! I know they say that the model D is quieter than the C, but jeez! If I want to get some resemblance of a workout in, the erg ...

Model D Flywheel Replacement help, please.
Hello all, I have a model D with pm3 that has about 130k on it and I've noticed vibrations - long story short, called up c2, and a replacement balanced flywheel has arrived. Now, I have to warn you, I'm not the most mechanically savvy person out there, so naturally, I'm having some trouble. I've bee...

Re: Advice for an aspiring Lightweight Rower
Focus on the big lifts, squat, desdlift rows, core. Food, high in protein, veggies, good carbs, cut out the crab, start out easy, see how you react on the changes, if needed become stricter, but keep the protein high at all times. Thank you very much, I have to say - you have always given solid adv...

Re: Advice for an aspiring Lightweight Rower
If you want something it is often possible Re bodyfat, in my 20 ies I had a 6/8 % bodyfat, that is really just skin on your abs. I do remember girls did like that, so that could a little extra  Haha, this is very true - I just want to make sure I'm going about it in the most healthy manner po...
