Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Scott - good luck on your 5K! Watching your training is helping me too. We have around the same amount of years of rowing experience, just way different in years on this planet! You'll do great! Thanks Mike. Glad to be helping, even if only a little! The intervals can only get faster the more you d...

Agreed on both counts!
Thanks both! It is really appreciated. Hopefully so. Sub 19 would be amazing!

RWAGR wrote:@ Scott- really strong session, well done. Others will have a better rule of thumb for you but to my reading you are well on course to hit high 18s for your 5k.
Really? Thanks!

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Today: 6×1500m alternating r22 and r26 with 1:30 rest. Targets were r22<1:58 and r26<1:54 (the r22 was meant to be 5k +4 and r26 at 5k pace). Obviously my 5k isn't at 1:54 but that's the target. Don't know the exact figures but I remember splits: 9000m @1:55.2 r24 1500m @1:57.6 r22 1500m @1:53.5 r26...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Good Day, Seems like everyone is having a bit of a mental issue these days. Me too. This cycle is very important to me. This is when it starts to get hard and you don't see as much improvement each time. It was nice seeing your average drop 10 seconds!! Also, I am around the 3 month mark with rowin...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

4x2k/5 Gutted it out but man it was tough. Only managed to bring in the 8k 12'' shy of 30'. Given the 15' of rest in the piece, this leaves me very far adrift of my 30' goal of 8k, but will keep plugging away. 29:48.0 8,000m 1:51.7 251 1162 26 174 7:26.2 2,000m 1:51.5 252 1167 26 166 7:25.4 2,000m ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

@ Scott you should work on the motivation. It's important to know you can push it without anybody helping you along. Having strong mental fortitude will always be a positive, so when you are in a group you can squeeze out even more, and the longer sessions, if you ever do them, will be a lot easier...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

I meant just beat their targets/SB/goals kind of thing rather than an all time PB. Bad wording! Very impressive nonetheless.

Re: Training for BIRC December 9th

To-day's fare of 2x(8 x 45" rest 1:30 act recovery) is more up NavHaz's street than mine. I don't like them and usually dip out somewhere along the way but following on from the 100k Team WR last month I can now see the benefit in these sessions and just gutted it out to get it done. Gave myself a ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

8k, but annoyingly interrupted halfway and had to leave the machine... thankfully the PM never turned off and i was able to finish out the session. https://i.imgur.com/bd4l0og.jpg Very good session considering you had to stop! Today: 20,000m in the 8+. Felt really good to be in a big boat again. Ha...

@ Scott, never apologise for all the writing: it's great to see you are improving so quickly & consistently and that is exactly what this forum is for. We're all 100% supporting each other. Fantastic results and very consistent too, which is also a very good sign. Those PBs of yours, in all distanc...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Got a new FM PB 2:49:39 but it was a real struggle as I think im fighting off a cold or virus. I know that a 2:47 is possible and maybe even a 2:46 but it started to go wrong with 15km to go. Despite the PB it was a real disappointment as I planned on doing two FMs (one as a PB and the other a lot ...

Re: Do you do a "running start" during intervals?

My college coach calls it the "battle paddle." OTW, when you have two boats rowing alongside each other, it doesn't matter what they're supposed to be doing, they will always try to beat each other. So if you're doing multiple pieces not from a static start the boats will start pulling harder and h...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Quite a lot tonight. Sorry in advance for giving you a ton to read. Not my fault I blame my coaches! 2×3000m at r18 1. 3000m 11:45.0 @1:57.5 r18 2. 3000m 11:57.1 @1:59.5 r18 Total 6000m in 23:42.1 @1:58.5 r18. Pretty pleased with this. It was meant to be 2×6000m but coaches decided that anyone under...
