Re: 306
Thank you, gentlemen. Yes, I'm well aware that lifestyle change is required. Losing the 90 pounds was done with a low carb, strength training program I followed for a bit over a year from Men's Health Magazine called the TNT program. I'm also very familiar with "Lose It", an excellent app I've had s...

Just turned 54 and have been struggling with weight for about the last 25 years. Over those years I've taken off fairly large amounts of weight a number of times, only to seriously backslide and pack it back on again. About 8 years ago I dropped 90 pounds, getting down to 205, and even going as far ...

Re: Looking to loose about 100lbs
Here's a copy of a post from last year. HI, I hesitate to wade into this discussion, but I have a personal experience to share. I started rowing about 9 months ago and it was part of my plan to lose weight. I'm 5'11" and started off at about 230. Through diet and exercise, mainly on the erg, I've r...

Re: Looking to loose about 100lbs
Has anyone here used rowing to lose large amounts of weight and if so, has rowing helped you to successfully keep it off (long term)? I am sure that you will get a lot of good responses from those who have had that experience, but I can make one suggestion. There is a programme (sic) specifically d...

Looking to loose about 100lbs
I'm kinda new here (got my Shiny New Model D a few weeks ago), and am looking to lose about 100 pounds. I'm 50 years old, I'm in the 280's and my Dr. would very much like me to get into the 180's (I'm about 5'-8"). I've been doing 5000m a day, including the last 4 days in a row, and am hoping to be ...

Re: New here and new to rowing . . .
Strapless worked except as I began to tire, my feet wanted to slip off the sides (having trouble with legs keeping together the longer I go - bad form, I know). Did a couple thousand meters strapless, took a short break, then strapped in for another 2,000. Recieved the rower 1 week ago today. Going ...

Re: New here and new to rowing . . .
"Take care at the beginning. Use low rates, like under 20 strokes to get the feel of it. The idea is that the drive should start with the legs (with the arms straight) to get the wheel spinning. The movement of the back comes in and finally the pull with the arms. The leg push gives the body a lot o...

Thanks, Bob. I'll give "strapless" a shot tonight.

New here and new to rowing . . .
Got my rower late last week, and have been working on getting used to it. I'm sharing it with my wife. We're both in our early 50's, both are new to rowing (though enjoying it so far), and we picked up the model D to help in our quest to lose a bunch of weight and get in shape. My biggest issue so f...
