Using the rowing machine for other exercises
Hey, This might be of interest to some. Various ways of using the seats ability to slide on the rail to assist with other exercises. https://furthermore.equinox.com/articles/2015/03/indo-row-workout-plank I know there is a gym in Australia that uses the C2 rowing machines as the main part of a kind ...

single leg squats ? useful ?
Do many folk use single legs squats as a leg exercise ? Are they considered to be useful ? Or is one better off simply doing heavy pushes on the erg ? With the lockdowns and lack of gym access and lack of gear at home I thought they might be a way of making the legs work a bit harder. I don't mean t...

Re: Barefoot/Sockless and Strapless- How to best acclimate/train
Hello, I use strapless most of the time. When I first bumped into the idea approx 15 years ago it was seen to be a way of highlighting a deficiency in your stroke i.e. if your feet came off the plates when strapless it meant something was wrong with your stroke and energy was being wasted. Instead o...

Re: Anyone tried VR rowing?
Has anyone tried Holofit to do boxing simulations & games, on other systems they look like fun.
Not really VR but I used to like racing with Rowpro - worth a look if they are still around.

Rowing = Horizontal Deadlift ?
I recently saw the indoor rowing stroke described as a Horizontal Deadlift and was wondering if that is an accurate description as I know nothing about deadlifts.
I've always been very wary of doing deadlifts and weighted squats, tend to row and cycle and single leg squats.

Calorie counting apps - what have you used ?
In an attempt to better understand the Calories in versus the calories out I started using a calorie tracking app a few days ago. What you get for free is amazing, I think there are several apps available. Has anybody compared them and sorted out the best ones - Which ones have you tried ? I have on...

Re: Job Done - Ice Baths Anyone ?
Well done Bill, Did you notice much training response - are you stronger, have better endurance, etc? Max, After 2 days rest my maximum before failure is unchanged at 32(disappointed), but I can now do a quick 100 = 4 x 25 with 4-5min rest between sets which seems a bit odd to me. Previously max re...

Re: Pushup 21 day Challenge - advice please
Ombrax, In the last few days before the challenge I was experimenting with set sizes and timing and discovered I was capable of doing the lot in one hit and do the same again the day after with no ill effects so that became the plan. Fitted in well with the morning bike ride, jumping off the bike to...

Re: Training Zones and HR
There seems to be conflicting advice out there.. Even within the C2 site. What advice do you need? Rowing is very simple: go fast at low ratings in training, and faster still when racing at high ratings. If you can go sufficiently fast at low ratings, you may well see HR going to unexpected places ...

Re: Pushup 21 day Challenge - advice please
Max, Set sizes are up ie I was doing several sets x 20 pushups comfortably on the less challenging days towards the end, whereas at the start I was experimenting with 8 10 15 in the sets. My toughest day was 248 and I did that in sets of 12x15 2x10, 4x12 Will have a rest for two days and do a test t...

Job Done - Ice Baths Anyone ?
Hello, Job Done, averaged 180 pushups a day over 21 days. So our team of 3 people cracked 10,000 pushups. Broadly stuck to the ideas discussed above except did all pushups in 1 session of multiple sets. That worked well. Various experiments with set size (up to 20 in a set) and rest times along the ...
