Re: Any Low-Carb rowers out there?
HJS, Thanks.. that is what I was suspecting. Do you have a carb loading protocol to use while on Keto? I figure somewhere between 100-250grams of carbs the day before. Increasing the GI as the day progresses. And possibly some creatine might help with that. Thanks for all the awesome suggestions. Ca...

Re: Any Low-Carb rowers out there?
I've been doing 2ks for time, and since going keto, I feel that my splits become unsustainable after 300-400m... which seem to make sense if my quads are glycogen depleted and my liver has very little to release. Today I tried mixing some honey with liquid aminos between my warmup (at home/30min at ...

Re: Any Low-Carb rowers out there?
Has anyone done a 2k test in Keto?
I just ordered "The Art & Science of Low-Carb Performance" and looking forward to reading it.
Being on keto 70% fat 20-25% P and 5-10% carb.

Re: 1:55 is my new 2:00
I just recently purchased rowpro based on the the recommendation I got from a buddy and the demo I saw up at the B's. Right now I have it running on a dell mini. I need to alter the setup of my gym to be able to use it more effectively. I currently move a chair by the erg and place the computer on t...

Re: 1:55 is my new 2:00
If I can sustain a 1:55 pace for 1-2hrs/day 6x/week, wouldn't that be better for weight-loss than a 1:58 pace for the same amount of time, even if the 1:58 pace was at my ideal HR?

competition ergs
I have noticed this with myself and with others. During competitions, the new ergs that are used feel so smooth at the pull that it tends to fool the competitor into thinking they can pull lower splits. Has anyone else noticed this?

1:55 is my new 2:00
Hi, This week I decided that 1:55 will be my new 2:00. I was motivated to do this because I need to increase my weightloss and looking for it to translate to lower splits on my 2k, 5k, and 30min pieces after my body gets used to the new pace. The default row up until this time has been to sit down o...

2k stratagies
I am soliciting opinions to support either one of the following 2k strategies 1. find you split and stick to it for the whole piece 2. start then settle then sprint (with power 10s sprinkled somewhere in the race plan) The reason I bring it up is I have seen both used successfully at the B's. Thanks...

Re: New to ERG but not to weight loss
I would take my split down by 5 seconds a week or two until I can't. I would also vary my pieces. 2x20:00 one day, a 10K another, a 30:00 another day. It will take a little while to find what a good workout is, but as long as your medical professional is onboard with it, pushing yourself will reap g...

Hi,
Has anyone done any triathlons (or >1)athlons which included either a rowing or erging component?

new chain/shock cord/sprocket and now squeak
Hi,
Just replaced the chain/shockcord/sprocket on my model d. The action feels as smooth as a brand new erg. The problem is that now as the flywheel is spinning to a stop, I hear a squeak coming from the cage. Any ideas?
THanks,
Carlos

Re: Weight Loss Success Stories... please share!
I don't know what other data the folks at crash-b have. I suggest running the 2k at home like you normally do, and take a look at your 500m splits or even get more granular and set it for 200m splits. It will give you spm and split times.

Re: Weight Loss Success Stories... please share!
Greg, What was your stroke rate? Do you find it easier to raise your stroke rate at the sprint? I calculated my sprint shaved about 6-7 seconds off my time. I'm boat 11 on http://utilities.concept2.com/replays/crashb2011/BHeat20 and I started my sprint at 320m When I ran the same raceplan and starte...

Re: Weight Loss Success Stories... please share!
Thanks Greg. Which heat were you in? I love the the race replay they have on C2.com. Gave me some insight into my 2k and ideas as to things to adjust in my raceplan. I tried the adjustments when I got home and was able to see improvements in my time. Now that CRASH-B is over, its time for me to conc...

Hi, I rowed in HS, and shortly after HS started gaining weight. Just before my third child was born, I decided to take weight-loss seriously. I started with the vague concept of using Strength Training + Cardio + Diet to get me to my goal. I purchased an erg that year. Took 7 years, and have not qui...
