Problem with forearms cramping up during 2ks

Durning 2k tests my forearms have the tendency of cramping up either in the last 500m or immediately after I finish and the only way to get rid of it is to stretch really quickly. My erg room at school has mirrors so I watch myself when I row and I see myself pulling straight into my body and not be...

When we do stadiums we do it at our football stadium on the east bleacher section...you get up high. There are 10 entrances so usual killer workout is East-East and involves 20 trips up and down. Our stadiums are also exponentially shaped so the higher you go, the larger the riser is the more it hur...

Thanks for the replies...I'm sitting at similar times to you and it seems to me that while rowing is helping, I can see my times drop much faster if I concentrate on lifting. My only problem is weight gain since I can't gain too much or else I lose my lightweight status. How much weight did you gain...

Weight Training

This winter I have no access to an erg and my ability to run outside is severly hampered. This leaves the weight room almost exclusively. What would be most beneficial for my 2k? I'm more concerned with upper-body rather than lower body since my lower body has never been a problem. Bench, curls, dip...

I listen to the same 3 songs no matter what...

Disturbed - Down w/ the Sickness (have you ever heard the opening?)
Disturbed - Decadence (fast paced song)
Slipknot - Before I Forget (good hard song)

Start of w/ DWTS and put it on shuffle for the second song...working so far

Potential Tendinitis?

When I'm rowing long pieces the ring finger between the hand and 1st knuckle on my right hand starts hurting a lot and locks up to the point I almost have to unfold it w/ my other hand. It only happens on longer rows, 500 and 2ks it's usually no problem or I'm so pumped i don't notice it. I thought ...

Depends on the piece I'm doing...

Short and quick - Pace

2k - PBs, Pace, maintaining place on team

5k - Pace, teammates paces, water

30min+ - anything that pops up

I wear spandex shorts when I'm on the erg now. Used to row in skivvies and shorts but i've found spandex to be much more comfortable.

2k'd yesterday and pulled a 6:56.5 @ 1:44.1. Splits were 44.1, 44.7, 44.5, 43.6. Finished in at 1.93 watt/weight.

I figure as a first 2k not too shabby and with weight training should be easy to drop into the 40s and if i'm pushing the 30s.

6k to a 2k and feasible times....

My fastest 6k this fall season was a split of 1:52.9 and about 5 weeks ago...been on the water exclusively since then. With the end of the fall season we're transitioning into winter training and to kick it off with a bang we're doing a 2k on Tuesday for pace setting. My last 2k that I ever did was ...

Reason I'm asking is that i row in a lt 4 for my college and on monday this week we were out for a morning practice when our idiot coxswain failed to see a tree floating in the middle of the river. T-boned it in our Wintech medalist and pretty much scarred it for life since we crushed some of the h...

I probably should have pointed out that I'm interested in 4s and 8s only. I apologize for not clarifying.

General consensus on different shells...

I realize this might not be the best place to ask this question...but can anyone fill me in on their take of different racing shells? I have only rowed in Dirigo's and Wintechs since my HS club was to poor to afford better and my college club rows them as well. Dirigo - Wintech - Vespoli - Empacher ...
