Re: How to make my C2 model C feel better?
Hello all. I've got a well-maintained Model C that for the past few weeks has been feeling ragged. I oil the chain regularly, keep the monorail clean and de-fluff the fan cage regularly, but the chain feels like it's grating against something and something's just not quite right. Any ideas about th...

repairing a broken cord
One of the elastic cords that causes the handle to retract on my model C broke tonight. I can see that there is a very elaborate series of pulleys etc with all sorts of strange connectors and loops and stuff. I can also see that one of the other sections that didn't break is about to snap so I would...

Re: mats for under c2
Thanks Greg- I ended up going with the big towel
I have really been slacking lately on the erg. I probably average 1 (or maybe 2) 10k session(s) per week. It's just so boring compared to doing something outdoors. I either need to get on the water somehow or do rowpro or something.

Re: What is my ideal SPM for PB's ? post your advice.
My PB stroke rates FM - 24.5 HM - 27.25 60' - 27 10K - 24 to 25 - I think I would rate this higher next time. 6K - 29 5K - 28.05 2K - 32 1K - 34 500 - 40 What does it say about my form/fitness/whatever that most of my values are higher than most people's seem to be? FM - 25 HM - 30 10k - 30 6k - 31...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
New 30 min PB by 66m 2 nights ago and a new 5k PB tonight by about 6". I don't know if I would be even better if I did more than 15k per week, or if the massive pushup and swimming routine is still gaining me fitness.

Re: Garmin GPS and HR Monitor Products
I use the Garmin 405. The only complaint I have about it is the bezel which when touched is how you change the functions. Once you start sweating it causes problems with unexpected beeping and switching of screens. You can get around that by locking the bezel but then you lose the ability to change ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Congratulations to Jeff, Carl and elk ! :D :D Jeff: I don't know how you have the courage to keep setting 2k PBs. I just hate the distance and do time trials as seldom as I can. Thanks. I hate them as well but I do so little erging these days that I feel like I have to give it my all in the short a...

Knocked 1.5" off my 2k PB. My goal is another 5 seconds so I will not feel ashamed if I compete at CRASH-Bs next year.

Re: VO2Max Calculations
From trolling around some of the discussion boards, I know there are a lot of math- and tech-savvy CII rowers. I was wondering if anyone has a formula or website that could assess VO2Max across a range of rowing distances. As you likely know, the CII site has a calculator, but only allows you to pl...

Re: Tabata Results Thread
I guess my point might have been based on an incorrect assumption. No rowers can hit 2000 watts on the erg, that I know of, while many top sprinters can (at the end of 200km races). I maybe mistakenly assumed that in rowing, vo2 wattage is a higher percentage of 'all out' wattage than it is in cycl...

Re: Tabata Results Thread
If 170% of VO2max power was required for cyclists (or speed skaters etc using a cycling erg) to produce the response that was noted in the study, I would bet lots of money that the number is very similar (if not the exact same) for rowing. There is a catch here. The erg monitor measures only the en...

Re: Tabata Results Thread
Well, they are two different sports - I wouldn't suggest you read too much into the 170% of vo2 max because top sprinting cyclists can sprint at close to 2000 watts (think low pull) while top vo2 wattages are probably around 600 watts. That's 300+ percent higher - which is quite a ways away from 17...

Re: Tabata Results Thread
I keep seeing people say that a huge wattage drop off (aka blowing up) was the intent of the protocol, whereas on cycling forums I read they emphasize that athletes were told in the study to maintain a certain wattage (170% of vo2 max) and if the dropped below it, they were done for the day. Someon...
