Re: Am I wasting my time?

re shoes, i have no experience here, particularly with your foot injury i dont know what would be best. All my previous comments really need to be read in the context that i o think the erg is one of the best workouts on the planet. If everyone on the planet spent 20 mins a day on the erg, the world...

Re: Am I wasting my time?

Key to weight loss is simply caloric deficit. Im a big fella like you and one thing ive found is that it can be a fine line between giving the body enough fuel to function and exercise, whilst at the same time maintaining a reasonable deficit each day to facilitate weight loss. it is, for the record...

Re: High Schooler's First 2k

2 suggestions to start. 1. Take no notice of anything you read about the training of, or hear from, our resident troll and certifiable lunatic, RANGER. 2. Have a look at the c2 UK website. They offer an interactive training program for 2k improvement. You have done your initial 2k trial, so all u nee...

Re: Ranger's training thread

my 11 month old girl has a bigger heart and a bigger brain than you. I am tipping she could pull 2ks on an erg faster than you. Even if she couldnt, she would at least give it a go.

Less dribble comes out of her mouth than comes out of yours.

My last comment here.

Re: Ranger's training thread

I am willing to put my wager down at 7:00 to 7:05. The pressure, excitement and tension felt by strangerranger when he sits down will result in a meltdown of biblical proportions. He knows that failure to deliver will result in forum humiliation. His beloved world of importance will come crashing dow...

Mysterious Calorie Burn

Ive been reading quite a bit and there seems to me that there is a lot of research and knowledge on ones resting metabolic rate and obviously its quite easy to get a decent estimate of how many calories are burned during exercise, whether it be on the erg or bike or road or in the pool etc. what i c...

Re: Ranger's training thread

No, being a man is about having courage in your convictions. Talking less and doing more. Earning respect not pleading for it. And its most certainly not about beating a bunch of pensioners by dedicating your life to something others do 10 mins a day so they can still play ball with their grandkids....

Re: Am I a fit fat person?

Hows progress Jamie? I pulled a 20 min erg the other day. I am same age as you and here in australia, back when i was at high school, we would do 20 min tests. I see this has now changed to 6k as the standard. anyway, i pulled 5133, or 1:56.7 average. was happy with that. My last (and first in 15 ye...

Re: Am I a fit fat person?

sorry to hijack this thread but i thought id add something. on the way down, whilst i am not really getting enough energy to recover optimally, ive been taking creatine. Creatine is often associated with muscle growth and weight gain, but really what it does is aid muscle recovery. Its not everyones...

Re: Am I a fit fat person?

I dont know how to insert previous comments, but i am replying to jamies reply to me. Mate i agree re the calorie thing. I think it may indeed be a combination of the two. Cal burned is I understand a function of the weight that is being moved, so as far as the erg is concerned, it will make its cal...

Re: Am I a fit fat person?

Jamie, amazing stuff. Inspirational. Ive a quick question. Doyou know how many calories you are consuming each day? reason i ask is that i am ticking along now at between 1500 and 2000 per day. I weight in at about 105kgs now, which is about 230lb i guess. Down from about 120kgs or 250lb. With moder...
