Re: Technique critique on slides

I won't pretend to give you technique advice, but those slides look cool as can be. How much more space does it take up than the rower sans slides? I've gotten a lot better at ensuring that my legs do the majority of the work, but it just looks like perhaps it's easier to focus on leg drive with the...

Re: Questions from a new slide user

So all those videos were in the first few weeks of you rowing, and now you've rowed a FM and broke 18:30 on the 5K? You go, man!

Re: Questions from a new slide user

How much did you get your Model C for, if you don't mind my asking? I bought one for $400 (put a new handle and seat cushion on it for about $27-ish), and I've been scouring Craigslist for a Model D (or PM3) for the last month or so. Saw another Model C pop up for $400 and went to check it out last ...

Re: Questions from a new slide user

Okay, Lawson, I've watched your technique videos more than any other videos out there, so let's see what that slide looks like. :P

I thought you rowed at a gym...must have missed you posting a C2 purchase (or do you just drag the slides in with you and tell everyone to step aside?).

Re: New Model D break-in period

I really didn't like the very low drag factors on my Model C ( <100) and settled around 110. It sounds like you're saying that even though the drag is lower, though, that it feels like there's more tension in the machine? I'm probably no help since I've never used a new C or D (just the used D at Cr...

Re: New Model D break-in period

More importantly, do you still have your Model D and where do you live? Time to sell the old one (to me), I guess. Seriously, though, why the new model if these things can handle millions of meters? I have a model C, and I'm already longing for a dynamic erg. My low back seems to be tender if I log ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Thanks for the encouragement, Markman. I really am loving it so far. I'm a long way away from 200w rows for anything much north of 500m, but I'll be completely stoked once I can get my 2k down to 8:00 (202.5w). 2:00 splits seems like quite an undertaking, though. I was able to do two 2ks with a 4' r...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

Not a PB time, but a mile marker reached today (or kilometer marker, I suppose). Just crossed over 100k. Took me six weeks, but if I follow the Pete Plan (at least four sessions a week), it looks like my next 100k will only take me four weeks. I'm just starting my fourth week (6500m) and just missed...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!

My first ever PB post  I've been rowing for about five weeks now, but I started the 24-week Pete Plan a little over two weeks ago, so I stopped going for 2k times, et cetera (though I've still tried the occasional 500m since I was competing with my nephew, but he's given up on trying to best my...

Re: Any better? (I think so)

So what's the fix? Mild retraction/tension of the upper back as you approach the catch combined with a slightly less pronounced leg drive/kick and more of a very rapid acceleration/press. Concept is, you want to establish the connection through your core and shoulders while maintain straight arms. ...

Re: Hello, Concept2 Forum.

Hey, double L. Thanks so much for asking. I think it's going well. I'm still doing CrossFit twice a week, and some minor injuries have had me miss a few rowing days and one CrossFit session, but since you posted on the 9th....I guess that's 18 days...I've CrossFit'd four times (missed one while me a...

Re: Hello, Concept2 Forum.

Good points, bob and Bob. You both mentioned trying to row sustained rows. So I should be concentrating on the time rowed, not the distance, I take it? I did row 20 minutes early on and covered 3.1k. Not entirely sure how to warm up and cool down as it bothers me that it detracts from my time. So sh...

Re: Hello, Concept2 Forum.

Did some research, watched some videos, just did a 10:04.4 2k. Was watching my watts instead of my time, so didn't know until it was over or I might have been able to push harder and break 10 minutes. Was concentrating on not breaking my knees on the release until my hands were past them .... for a...

Re: Hello, Concept2 Forum.

As long as we focus on the technique and not the tum-my, I'm down. Got me a little Flip video, so I'll make a video this weekend and let the experts tear me up. 8^)

Thanks, aharmer.
