Re: Workout during vacation...
Thanks for the advice Greg. I would love a day off a week and I am working on the mental challenge of just doing it. I also have the habit of doing the same workout over and over and over...mostly because when I get on the scale every three weeks I see consistent weight loss. For example, I've been ...

Re: Workout during vacation...
Thanks for the tips all. The locator was helpful...found two gyms in the same town with rowers...will check to see if they are close to the hotel. Greg, yes I haven't missed a day and believe me it's getting to me. I've had such great weight loss since I started I feel like one day would be bad, eve...

Workout during vacation...
Hey all, I've been using my rower every day since the first week of January 2011 and haven't missed a workout. I have a vacation coming up for 4 days and the time has finally come to miss my rowing for that time period. The hotel does have a gym so I still intend to do something and stay on my diet....

Re: Queston on PM3 built-in workouts...
Thanks I'll try this when I get home. I agree with the calorie count which is why I am glad you can "recalcuate" it from this website with your actual weight, etc. I ASSUME this is accurate?

Queston on PM3 built-in workouts...
Hello! I've been doing a straight 7,000 meter row daily for a long time and finally decided to mix it up a bit as I couldn't take the same workout anymore. Today I did one of the built in workouts on the PM3 which was: 2,500m, 3min rest 1,500m, 3min rest 1,000m, 3min rest 500m, 3min rest During the ...

Recommended Heart Rate monitor?
Hey all, I am looking to invest in a heart rate monitor but there are so many...does anyone have any recommendations? Not too concered about price right now...just something that works. I am on the Model C but am using the PM3 monitor. I prefer something that I can use on different machines as I jus...

Re: Some advice when weight loss slows...
Thanks Greg...your advice is always valuable. You are right on both accounts. I guess I got so use to seeing a certain weight loss and even though the current one is still good it's progress toward my ultimate goal. Good waiters get good tips right?

Re: Some advice when weight loss slows...
Thanks for the advice all...I've been on a strict self-imposed diet since I started. I was thinking about that...I am lighter but the amount I eat is the same since I started, even though it's all good foods. My issue is...strangely...I am not sure if I have been eating enough since I started all th...

Some advice when weight loss slows...
Hey all, Since January I've been doing non-stop rowing...I started at 5,000 meters and now do 7,000 each morning (this is continuous rowing, so no breaks). They way I have been doing the 7,000 meters is the first 1,000 is hard (1:55/500m), and I do the remaining 6,000 meters by repeating 600m at a 2...

Question on PM3 retrofit on Model C
Hey all, I just got my PM3 monitor for my older Model C rower (my current PM2 screen keeps fading ocassionally). I noticed this blurb on the website when I bought it: "Please note: This kit does NOT include the Monitor Pickup with Cable, PN 1748 (the cable that plugs into the PM3 from the flywheel)....

Re: newbie, with questions
I do 6,000 straight through every morning. It's fine for me. Intervals are a good way to break up your routine if you get bored with the other one...intervals are also good for HIT (High Interval Traning)...like going full bore for 1,000 meters, then taking 3 minutes off, then doing another, etc. I ...

Re: Morning Row? What to eat for Breakfast?
I will outline what I do (it's listed above too). I row on an empty stomach. For breakfast I do:
M-F: I have 3-4 cups of Multigrain Cheerios (1% milk), a non fat yogurt, and a banana.
Sat-Sun: I substitute the Cheerios with three eggs (fried or scrambled), and keep the Yogurt and banana

Re: Morning Row? What to eat for Breakfast?
Greg, Thanks for the input. You have impressive numbers yourself...I would love to have your 6k time (I think 23:46.7 was my best). I think the lighter I get the faster I will ultimately move. I just recently moved my damper from 8 to 6 (another thread on this blog) and I am finding I have to row a ...

Re: Morning Row? What to eat for Breakfast?
Wow! Napolean! Tell me more. Here's my quick story. I used to be 325lbs. Dropped to low 200s on Atkins. But felt dreadful. Sprung back to 245. Then I got serious. I cut my carbs, adopted a vegetarian lifestyle (ETL, China Study...) and fell to 179. Great weight for 6' me! Lately, the holidays and s...
