First time Erging since hurting my lower back weight lifting in February. I plan on erging once a week as my cardio day.

Newb advice here. But I stopped rowing for a bit in June and have been just doing strength training all summer. I'm a bit shorter than you at 5'7" and at around 175 lbs. I like going in this thread to see what I'm shooting for. And to realize how out of shape I am. This morning I decided to get my 1K under 4:00. Did 4 warm up runs, 2 -500, 1- 1K and 1- 2K. My plan was to keep going at around 2:00/500m until 250 left and push it. Had a hard time keeping 2:00 pace, go...

I do cold showers after my lunch break workouts, not because of the apparent benefits, but because if I don't, I'm still sweating when I get back to the office.

I am more awake after a cold shower than after a warm one though.

yeah keep in mind that most of those people are in really good shape. Yeah. I had to go all the way to page 34 of that list before I got to folks who were as slow as 40 minutes for the 10K.
