Re: Rowing Injuries (The Physician and Sportsmedicine Articl

Thanks Graham. Will try and adjust. The other thing I've been doing just as reminder is that I have a couple of bungie cords wrapped around track to give me a little reminder nudge when I get tired or whatever and my form starts falling apart. They seem to really help.

Good luck on all your rehab!!

Re: Finger tendon sheath inflammation?

I'm glad you posted this. People put up good suggestions. I have a question for you: do you have trigger finger where the finger kind of locks and pops? I've had several of them. A quick outpatient tendon release surgery took care of it, and I've had no problems since then. It might not be a problem...

Re: Suggestions for arthritic knees please?

My knee is shot too due to thinned out cartilage. I've just gotten back on the last month or so, and got a suggestion from someone to try and row strapless. I'm finding it really helps. I have the flex feet on my erg (it's an old Model B, and I'm finding that strapless the knee doesn't extend to the...

Re: Rowing Injuries (The Physician and Sportsmedicine Articl

Thanks for posting. I've been trying to find out more info on rowing and knees. Since it's low impact I figured it would be OK. Used to row a lot but have knees with patellofemoral syndrome. I've been trying to row again, but had problems with kneecap popping out on full extension on the drive. I en...

re: newbie again

Kathy, how long have you been doing this? if you're just starting out only start with about 5 min. and work your way up. I only manage about 1700 per 10 minutes on rower, and am breathing hard as well. put on music, and set your machine so you only get about a 30 sec to 1 min. break between sets. it...

re: newbie again

I've lost 20 lbs. over 6 months using WW as well. been trying to find a rowing partner without much success. I, too am trying to get back on the horse after having a literal fall from a horse and injuring my back. only managing a few K each time I row, and want to make it more steady and build up. w...

re: rowing partner

Lynn,
don't know if you received previous message, but still looking for a partner. have you found one yet, or are you still looking? your training # gets mine. could use the "companionship".

another height question

I, too am only about 5' (on a good day), 48. my problem is I feel like I run out of leg during the drive. I notice that I can keep spm down to about 16, but feel like I'm straining the knees. It's like the knees "snap" when I push completely out (straighten completely) and it hurts behind the knees....

training partner

anyone out there interested in pairing up with me just for exercise? only erged 197K this year, and am trying to get back into it on a more routine basis. I'm 48, and honestly, would just like the boost to get myself back on track.
anyone else in the same boat?

I'm Mary, a nursing home administrator who was rowing pretty steadily, then fell off the wagon. anyone out there looking for a training partner? I find it's a little easier to get motivated if I know someone else is working along with me. ok, I admit I'm weak. thanks.

pendactic posters on bad knees

I agree. besides, if there was more than one crew on the team, wouldn't "crew team" still be accurate?

I'm the original poster-- for those of you who actually put in usable advice, thank you! it's helping.

bad knees

I'm 48, and have pretty creaky knees. I know rowing is supposed to be easy on the knees, but I'm finding that the extention on catch is really pulling them. I have really short legs so I don't generate much stroke, I'm trying to figure a way to not extend my knees all the way. any ideas?
