Re: Wanted: Concept2 PM3 or later monitor

I don't have a used monitor to sell you but I do have a suggestion. I too own a model B - I bought it used some 23 years ago. When the monitor on my model B begins to fade as you describe with yours I found the solution is simply to install new fresh batteries. The screen comes back to life. It does...

Re: Other Grips

I'm glad you asked. At age 63 my old model B and me make quite a pair. We've travelled many meters together over the last nearly 30 years. For the last 3 years or more I have placed a pair of Fat Gripz on my rowing handle. Obviously it makes the handle "larger". They fit snugly & give my arms/forear...

My Model B Monitor

A question about the monitor on my old war horse Model B. Other than some new seat rollers & a seat pad everything else is pretty much original. My question: is there any way to improve the graphics on the monitor to make them easier to see? Everything remains visible & readable but if I put my fing...

My "trick" Right Knee...

Heading shortly to my 62nd birthday and I've got a lot of miles on my odometer I've owned my model B for about 25 years now. Among my issues is a right knee that "too often" acts up & leaves me limping Here's my question... Can I and does anyone here use a "wrap" on elbows or knee joints to help sup...

Purchasing a "Modern" Handle

I am seriously thinking of updating the original wooden handle on my model B (love my old B ) Can those who have experience with that old style handle tell me what the differences are?? What will I notice if I upgrade & might my times improve?? Is it easy to change over?? I've owned my B for close t...

Re: 1993/1994 Model C w/PM1 worth $500??

The PM1 is going to cost another $180 to replace with a PM5. A model B with a PM1 isn't worth the scrap value. You mean, it isn't worth it TO YOU. But there are a lot of people to whom a Model B with a PM1 is worth more than $100, at least in my part of the US. As long as something is working, then...

Re: Jacking Up Your Rear End

My wife and I had an appointment with a financial planner yesterday. He's a silver medalist from the 1996 Atlanta Olympic games -- men's lightweight 4's. I've known him for many years... So I asked him if he had ever raised the backend of his erg and he said he had done so...but didn't make a habit ...

Re: Jacking Up Your Rear End

Thanks for your reply. I simply used this to change things up...bit of a novel - fun thing... It's a little bit like the overload principle...are you familiar with that?? And as I suspected I quickly found out that it made things more difficult...I was slower... Like I said when I went back to "norm...

Jacking Up Your Rear End

I have in the past elevated the back end of my old model B 3 or 4 inches... I used a couple of 2 x 4s and 2 old VHS tapes (lol) in their cardboard cases...one of each under both of the rear rubber pads... I figured it would make my workout more difficult over the long haul and I was right...it was d...

Re: Staying Cool While Rowing...

Very common yes. Google Cbreese.. http://www.ps-sport.net/nonathlon/ I always thought my old model B provided a pretty good "breeze" on its own because of the "open" nature of the flywheel etc. I had never seen or heard of that product until this posting... The concept (no pun) makes sense but do t...

Staying Cool While Rowing...

I'm an old timer (age 61) and have had my model B for about 25 years... I'm a big old timer (245 pounds) and I find that I lose some of my energy to over heating... To combat this and remain able to go as hard as I can I have a large fan circulating at medium speed nearby... I row shirtless and I fi...

Do You Train In Front Of A Mirror??

I have always...when and where I was able to...saddled up on my old model B and rowed in front of a mirror... My current gym has two model D's...no mirror nearby with those units...but I still use them on occasion... But at home my B is about 5 feet from a full length reflective device... Consider t...
