Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I've done several rowing sessions since I last posted. I've done some easy 5K's, some 2.5K's before and after lifting sessions, an 6x250m interval (keeping the pace in the range 1.26-1.30), and two 5x20sec all out sprints. During the first all out sprint session, I low-pulled 1.14 (PR). This was a b...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Congrats, but why not keep at for a while? This is at best a 90% effort, working on your speed could nicely flow in your longer work later on. Thanks guys... if i work on speed stuff a lot i will end up hating the erg and probably selling it which is not what i want. I was cursing the erg after thi...

Understood. Thank you.hjs wrote:Re setting, you talk about 7, but you need to know the drag, public machines tend to be dirty/dusty, this lowers the drag, for sprinting thats not handy. Most use use 150 drag and up.

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Well, I'm stronger at those lifts, but certainly not in rowing. I'm going to go for a max effort low pull soon. I'll have someone hold the machine down for me... when it hit 1:18, I was feeling like I was still building up, but I just fell out. If I can come anywhere close to your pull (say within a...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Awesome.
You must be generating a lot of power to pull that low. How much can you power clean?

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
I've gotten down to 1:18. The machine starts jumping around on me and I fell out of the seat (hurt my butt on the slide, which was a little embarrassing) when I hit that number.

Re: 500m test (Some advice required)
Spinoza, proberly usefull to browse below http://www.c2forum.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=111430 Thank you. Very informative. I'm going to postpone my 500m PR attempt and work on some of the advice offered in that thread and elsewhere. New goal is 1:20, but I think I'll know if this is a feasible time f...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
A paddle eh?
A really heavy paddle that demands human sacrifices every 250 meters.

Re: 500m test (Some advice required)
I was going to do a 5k all out within the next week, but this thread has motivated to re-focus on the 500m. Currently, I have a 1:24.2. The shorter distances may be more to my strengths, since I'm fairly strong/powerful (560 deadlift, 320 power clean). So, here's my plan. Next Friday evening, I'm go...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
This may not even be a true PR in the 5k, but it's the first time I went hard (after overhead squatting) and paid attention to my pace. I got a 17:48. So, that's my PR. I don't know how hard it will be to get below 17:30, but that's my goal next time I do a 5k. I'm pretty sure I can do it. I must ad...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Deadlifts. 3x405, 4x455, 1x505, 3x405. Rowing intervals. 5x250 with 1 minute rests. I tried to do better than 1:27/500m pace--first two were faster, second two barely held on, and I faded in the last one. Legs were burning, (will)power was depleted. I shouldn't have done these so soon after a 2000m ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Nice, spinoza! Thank you. We're pretty close in the 500m, and you have 5 seconds on me in the 2000m (which is likely fairly substantial due to diminishing returns). So, this gives me something to shoot for. I was looking at your 5k time, and I realized that your ~6:50/2000m pace is nearly as good a...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
New PR in 2000. Previous PR was 6:46, new PR is 6:35. I suspected the 2000 PR was low hanging fruit, and it appears I was right. I meant to go for this PR sooner, but I came down with something. I continued training, but only high intensity, low volume strength training. I'll be going after my 1:24....
