Re: Ranger's training thread

This morning so far, 15K OTErg, 1:48 @ 21 spm (13 SPI). That's a very impressive 15k Prof. Here's me thinking you couldn't even hold that pace for 5k. I feel ashamed that I ever doubted you. You're getting very good with your camera these days so I look forward to seeing your photo of the 15k to en...

This is indeed exciting.

How have you addressed the small problem of you being absolutely unable to get past 5k @1:48, 23spm.

Re: Ranger's training thread

Two questions Prof to which I don't expect an honest answer, but here goes anyway:

1. How many hours of your life have you wasted on here today?
2. How much alcohol have you consumed today?

And yet you can't row 5k at that pace.

Strange, uh?

ranger wrote:If I now pull a FM @ 1:48, the whole affair will be so unprecedented that it will be ridiculous.
I'd agree with your statement here. Absolutely. Particularly as you are unable to row past 5k at 1:48 pace. That's what will make your FM @1:48 so special....

Have you got past your 'half hour or so' yet today Prof?

Re: Ranger's training thread

My first goal is a FM, 1:46 @ 24 spm (12 SPI). No reason to do 5K as some sort of race at this point. A FM @ 1:46 predicts a 5K @ 1:37, 16:10. I know your maths isn't great but even you must see that your absolute inability to pull a 5k @ 1:46 pace precludes you from 'reasonably' having 1:46 as a F...

Re: Ranger's training thread

I am also the best male erger for my age and weight--by far. And yet you hold exactly zero world records. Strange that? I used to think you were a certainty to break Bailey's WR but now I'd very much doubt that, as a fully prepared lwt, you'd manage anything better than 6:45. On a good day. Hence y...

When you are OTErg, row things like 1:46 @ 22 spm (13 SPI).

Sure, if you are rowing well, given the rate, 22 spm, the training band is "easy," UT2.

But I think you will find that, nonetheless, you are "working hard."
Prof, why do you think you can't get past 4k at your 'UT2' pace of 1:46?

Re: Ranger's training thread

Hi Prof. I hope your wife enjoyed your week off from this forum.

Have you figured out yet how to get past the 5k mark at your FM pace?

Oh, and congrats on what I believe to be a new FM vPB: 1:44/500m is truly remarkable!

Hi Prof. Just calling in to see if you've figured out a way to take your intended FM pace past the 5k mark yet?

I see you haven't.

Ah well.

So it goes....

Re: Ranger's training thread

There is absolutely no chance whatsoever of Ranger turning up to Boston in 2012, particularly now Roy will be there. The Prof is simply too yellow to turn up and compete against Roy. But of course, he won't have done his FM by then and so won't be fully prepared for a 2k. Better instead to let his V...
