Re: Pete Plan 2017

@Rowan, that sounds horrible! Wishing you a good recovery mate. @sdr, I also use that Polar H7 and it suddenly stopped working a few weeks ago. But then I found out I had been using another chest, for an older Polar HR device. When I swapped it for the right one it worked fine again. Didn't know the...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@optimuswolf - Yes it's boring, but it is also effective so far and I get a lot of satisfaction from that. But if I'll end up on a plateau on this plan I'll quit immediately. Not happened so far! @calalli - I'm by no means an expert as you know, but yes at this stage I feel it is working better for ...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi group, Great rowing still going on here I see! And some new strong guys, too. Phew. I'm very bored in my interactive weight loss program. Finished week 3, lots of HIIT (6x6' AT) combined with UT1 endurance intervals (5x11'/20-22 and crap like that). But it is working - losing about a kilo per wee...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Ivo - Are you going to start the interactive plan for weight loss? I toyed with it a bit. I did 2 weeks of BPP then the interactive plan for a week before returning to the BPP. I found the interactive plan required more time out of the day than the BPP and I am pushing it as it is with the other de...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Very nice sessions everybody! @calalli and @mike Very strong & impressive. I am taking a one whole week off to think about the next step and to be fully recovered to take it. I am starting a new training this Monday. @ Ivo W: Here's an alternative to PP for weight loss-directed training: https://ind...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@mike, @jack - thanks for the pointers! @greg, exciting stuff. We're all very busy with work and the PP and all but would love (and be honoured to) see if we can think of something that makes sense. Btw, I tried Painsled but didn't like it, the interface is too weird, it doesn't want me to get rowin...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@mike Rowing with you would be great! But I won't do many Liverowing sessions as I want to keep pace, HR and SR data in the C2 log and this is not synced. @calalli, thanks. You're also doing great on the longer distances, very good! @greg, sounds good! My Raspberry Pi just arrived this week, was thi...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@rlboyles - impressive session! I like the positive attitude, keeping it a hard row knowing you've failed the target. Indeed all work counts. @mike I am very much a novice on the food front, never checked what went in, although almost everything we buy is organic so no round up in our house I think....

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@Street, thanks for your feedback, too. I have used the Fitbit app to track calories in the first month when I started rowing. I did record everything I took in, and took the real energy values from the packaging, not the default ones from the app. It did help me to get a good idea what I was taking...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@hjs, so you think it's likely that my current PP training program plus my current food habits now have reached a balancing point which leaves me at 88kg, no matter how hard or how many meters I row? Because on these habits I did lose substantial weight in the last months. That kind of makes sense, ...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

@hjs, thanks. I'm 181cm, 88kg now. Taking a Golden Standard protein shake (24g protein per shake) after every hard session and cut on all the nice bits (alcohol, sugar, snacks). Must say that I haven't taken many protein shakes in this last cycle, but could that really be it? Prefer not to do an all...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

On my hard day yesterday I tried to set a new 2k PR as start for the season and I failed horribly  Was a bad idea to do this after my fairly hard 10k (2:06.2) yesterday. My 2k PR is 1:51.2 (3 weeks ago) so plan was to take this as my pace for splits 1-3 and see if I could steal some in spli...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Ivo a 2:06.2 10k is a long way from sub 40' 1:59.9 ave   trust me. Saying that good solid training and your coming on, a good session to do is 2 x 5k/5'r, do 1st rep @ 1:59.9, 2nd rep beat it, great for the mental strength for 10k, remember 10k is twice the distance of a 5k. Thanks, will...
