Rowing to improve Mountain Biking

Hi all Finished the BPP last May and have had a good year on the mountain bike. Over the past 3 months I have been able to stay on the bike 2-3 times per week and I have been able to maintain my rowing with 5-7500 every other day. So I am trying to improve my explosiveness on technical and steep cli...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Great job everyone....nice to see so many people working through these plans!!! BPP Wk 13.1 I was dreading this 10k after snowblowing and shoveling all morning here in Massachusetts. Just could not get comfortable the first 4k. I had hoped to better my last 10k and get below 44 min....no luck. 44:06...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi all Wk 12.2 BPP Had the 4x1500 r3 yesterday and the plan did not give too much info for pacing, just to go a little faster than last time in wk 8. I tried to go a little faster with each interval and made the last my fastest. Was I supposed to just keep one pace for all 4?? 6:41 2:13/500 23 s/m 6...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Thanks all for feedback.....having your input and seeing your efforts is very helpful. Another question, today I have the 8x500 r2 IN the past I have warmed up over the first intervals, gone hard for the middle, then cooled down over the last couple. Should I be doing a warm up first and then go har...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi all

BPP Wk 11 D1.....my first 10k. I have been dreading this since week one.

Using everyone's advice to slow my recovery down, I am just getting comfortable with the new stroke.

10K

44:29 2:13/500 23 SPM 147HR 147 watts

So, hopefully I am on the right track here.

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi all Quick check in if you don't mind taking a look.....so to recap, on BPP WK 10, I am 6'3 188lb and 41 yo. I had been rowing way too fast always up in the 27 spm. My last 9500k had been at 2:12 pace. Yesterday I did 3/2000 with 4 min rest. 8:24 2000@ 2:05 23 SPM 174 watt 8:26 2000@ 2:06 23 spm 1...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Great info....thanks all.

I watched the videos suggested....I have been going way too fast on the recovery, I race back.

Will look to put more power into the drive and slow down on the recovery.

Thanks for the encouragement.

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Thanks to all for your input. Just realized that I mistyped my split times.....10 weeks ago the SS rows were in the 2:23 and yesterdays 9500 (my longest) was 2:12. Yes, I seem to go quick on the drive and fast on the recovery too. Should I increase my drag factor to slow down and get more upper body...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Guys, thanks for the response. To fill in the gaps, I am 6'3" and an avid cyclist, I certainly ride my best at a high cadence (RPM). I have not been using the ss days as easy days. I have been using the pace boat on my monitor and just increasing watts a bit per week....no idea if that is right, but...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi all First time posting and new to rowing. I'm starting BPP W10 D1 today after work. Quick question, it says: "Have a look back through your training diary and see how the pace and rate of these single distance rows has been progressing. You should have been holding the pace the same week by week ...
