Re: Decline with age
This is just bro science on my part but from the images of most first and second place finishers for men 40> That I have seen over the years the lean muscle mass to fat mass seems to be very important. My guess is that more muscle the more power and less energy wasted supporting useless fat, this se...

Re: WRIC Results with Splits
I am not seeing any results from today’s events just the competitors for each category. Also the live streaming could not be any worse if it was dial up.

Re: Decline with age
Hi, I've been doing some more work on the statistical analysis of concept2 rowing rankings. I just published the first 2 parts of what will be a 4 or 5 part series of articles on the topic over on the rowsandall analytics blog. Please check it out. http://analytics.rowsandall.com/2018/02/16/aging-a...

Re: Decline with age
If you want to see what is possible though look at the rankings for 70+ lwt now there is a Danish Olympic rower who is rewriting everything - amazing times. If you mean Jørgen Engelbrecht (and I'm sure that you do), I remember him coming to Boston about 5 years ago and he looked quite intimidating....

Re: Fenix
I have a Fenix 5s with the erg IQ app and it works like a charm after every workout I sync to garmin connect and all the metrics from the workout are there thanks to this app, you do need to fill in some of the session info on the garmin connect side of things as they do not as yet allow for third p...

Re: Ergo shoes and ergo gloves
I have never used gloves but I do have and use the Bat Logic erg adapter with the shoes and the shoe plate pro system. I love the Bat Logic erg adapter so much so that I think it has been on my C2 now for more than 2 years and in that time I have erged about 8,000 kilometers. I am getting the new Bo...

Re: Question for HJS
Re strenght, don,t forget that strong rowers often don,t have a good build for strenght. Often tall with long limbs. So having a certain strenghtlevel should be seen in context. A 2.00m guy pulling 200kg Dl, or a stocky 1.75 obe doing so, will for rowing be very different. Just so you know hjs I am...

Re: Question for HJS
Question, do you get a peak force of 169kg for several strokes or just one? What is stroke length and rate when you reach 169kg? I have seen 170kg and above of peak force in ergdata and can't for sure pull a +170kg deadlift right now. I usually see it in a combination of a long pull(1,6m) followed ...

Re: Question for HJS
I'm not Henry so I hope you don't mind me answering. What matters is not the peak force by the average force. It's that, together with the length of the drive, that determines your power. That said, unless you're focused on sprint distances your strength is fine. In his book Lots of Watts Sam Loch ...

Question for HJS
Hello HJS, Yesterday I did a 4x1k 4 minute rest interval session. When I finished the last 1k interval Ergdata had 169 kg for my high peak force, my question is is this good, average or bad or it does not matter, I am a 51 year old lightweight. I have not trained for max force output on a C2, I can ...
