Re: Ranger's training thread
I left this site a few months back because of this ranger character, but I came back today hoping he was gone so I could further my knowledge of rowing and the concept 2. Alas, this no talent ass hat is still here blowing smoke. So with that, I once again big you a fond (and permanent) farewell. I'l...

"After all, that's the only really meaningful conversation that could come from this topic" How so? Because you're not going to get any taller. If you want to row, row. Unless you are a truly elite level athlete who would have actually excelled had he only chosen a sport where his basic frame was b...

Re: How does the height of a person affect their rowing?
How does a persons height affect their rowing? What are the pros and cons of being tall and being short? Maybe use cut off of 6'? I'm 5'8". I read that the average height of a professional "sculler" (is that the right word?) was about 6'3", so I've got no future unless it includes holding a clipboa...

I am interested to see where the caloric reserve (glycogen) conversation goes because I experienced my first row where I flat ran out of gas. Not just tired, but weak the other night. It was after dinner by about 2 and a half hours and I had had some whole wheat pasta with turkey. I got to about 300...

Verbatim from the PP: "Week 1: 5000m – The three key points you want to concentrate on during all of your erg sessions are technique, relaxation, and efficiency. Use the single distance pieces to work on the different elements of the stroke you read about in the technique section. Aim for a feeling...

I use RowPro on a 15" flat screen monitor on top of the small form factor PC all stacked up on a bedside table. The 3 draws in the table has all my rowing clothing in it and brings the height of the monitor up level with my PM3. USB Mouse and keyboard is on the floor which is not that convenient bu...

Hi everyone. I came across this thread when looking for some ideas on music. I have an iphone and I have a free app called Pandora. it's free music that just keeps playing and you pick the type of music you want or even the kind of bands you like and it just randomly selects them. it's like a radio ...

Whats your rowing set up look like?
I thought I had found a thread that ahd pics of peoples rowing "stations" at home, but I can't find it. I am curious how you all have it laid out with any music, tv's windows for a view, etc.
Mine is just stuck in a basement starting at a small tv.
Thanks!

Just try to cut out 100-200kCal per day. It doesn't have to be one pure source of it. Energy is energy regardless of where you get it from. Carbohydrates are especially important with erging as that IS where you get the vast majority of your energy. Sometimes I've noticed that my sweat smells like a...

Ryker, Any exercise combined with a healthy and balanced diet will produce the results you want. You probably have heard about how interval training is the godsend workout that burns so much fat. It's not. It's no different than doing cardio work. I mean, what do you just stop burning energy (from ...

Iain, (or anyone here) Would the pp for beginners be a good plan to follow for fat loss? I would imagine decent eating and that amount of rowing (especially if one is new to rowing) would produce a good amount of fat loss. Would doing any of this on an empty stomach in the morning be smart of no? Ma...
