Re: Benchmark Times

I guess the other challenge- which makes the comparison nearly impossible is: A much higher % of individuals who have the potential to run sub 4 actually HAVE done so. By comparison, there are far more folk who have the potential to row sub 6 who have never touched an erg. I would guess that there ...

Re: Benchmark Times

1400 peopl have recorded a 4 minute mile or lower.. ever.
The number of sub 6 rowers in concept’s lifetime is undoubtedly higher. 5:50 is more realistic a comparison

Re: Drag factor

Think of df as gears on the bike. Doesn’t affect the score directly. It’s purely resistance. 120-135 is what most national teams use as it closely mimics the resistance in the water. Any higher than 140 for extended periods of time will probably put unwanted stress on the back for most but there is ...

Re: 2020 Goals

Not on here often but for my own sake I’ll get it in writing. Firstly bag to a regular edging routine. Once a week doesn’t really cut it. A longgggg way off pb pace atm but fitness is there. Been running a lot.. 3:15 1k 6:40 2k 18:00 5k 8k 30r20 1:55 1 hour r20 Doing a 50 mile ultra marathon end of ...

Re: Rowing strapless...

Used to do all my Ss strapless. And if I tried I’ve done r26 at about 5k pace which felt semi sustainable. But anything above 26 and I believe the physics of it made it nearly impossible. Of course very possible my stroke wasn’t perfect(it wasn’t.) But I imagine as with regular rowing low rate strap...

Re: MHR question

The formula was very off for me. At least when I was actually fit. Havnt hit mhr in a long time. I think it’s a good guideline for beginners but once you have some experience just do a step test or a long test and a sprint at the end. That’s what got mine. End of a step test under lab conditions(ben...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Long time no post. Not much erging. Plenty of running. Got my half marathon down to 7:22 mile pace(1:36.39). Only wanted sub 7:30 pace so now I’ve done that my legs need a break. Back in the gym doing a brosplit and some power work on the erg. Did a 2k warm up @2:00.5r18. Inc dumbbell press 3x12x16k...

Was meant to be 2 25’ but felt heavy so went for a run instead. 3.6 miles 7’47 pace. Pretty happy. Very cold..
Staff party after that and a bit rough today so just sleep on the cards for now 😂

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Cheers Lindsay. Just got to make it part of the routine again. Luckily the gym is only a 2 minute walk from work and we have minimum 12 hours between shifts so no excuse really.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

4am 30r20. Didn’t sleep that much. Only ate once today. 11 hours on my feet at work. Wasn’t expecting much but wanted a decent length piece sub 2:00 so decided to go for it. Nowhere near as comfortable as I’d like but we’ll under target. Can’t complain I guess TLDR. Not comfortable but never in doub...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Few days off due to long work days and a bit of man flu (had a bit of a cough) felt a bit better today so settled in for some 20 min pieces. Wanted to do 2-4 depending on how I felt and if the chest issues flared up. They did not and I felt great. Again another post work piece at stupid o’clock in t...
