Re: What am I doing wrong?
I am rowing at the damper setting 3. Stroke rate is 18-20. Usually exercise in the morning. Starting to do 5K twice a day instead of 10K in one sitting. Also, will include interval training twice a week. Hi there, Damper setting does not mean much, what drag factor does damper at 3 represent on the...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Long time since I last logged in... Today went to the gym to row my first 60' this season and managed to push the split below 1:57. Thus my new PB for 60' is now: 15,403m.

Re: What to do to lose weight
Hi John, OK, you already started with working out, that's a good start. Also your goal of reducing your weight by 30kg and the steps to get there (0.5kg/week) seem very realistic. You need to keep the determination, since it is quite a long way to go. I can tell. I was in a very similar situation 2 ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Bah, nothing really to brag about. Actually I had the idea to try a new 5k PB, but after the warming up, I didn't feel like pulling a full 5k, thus I scaled it down a bit and went for a new 4min PB  Even achieved a new PB, however, didn't manage to get these 1200... for the moment I'll have to ...

Today I went for another rowing class at our academic sports. They're pretty fun. These classes are done in a group (our room has about 16 ergs) with an instructor and music which matches the workout. Usually it starts with a short warm-up, then for some technical training before going for the actua...

This morning, I went to the gym to do some standard workout. in prospect of an eventual marathon row in april I've started with doing 10km rows in the morning, also to get use d to row at early hours, since that's what coming soon as well with OTW season kicking off and me planning to attend an intr...

Your shoulders should always be relaxed :D At least that's what my instructors keep repeating... Seriously, as Bob said, this motion comes from the OTW experience. However, on the erg its kind of useless, since physically speaking any vertical motion with the handle is a waste of energy. Thus for pu...

Suppleness
I have no empirical data on that, but I'm pretty shure I'd suck big time if I had to pull a 2k race out of the blue... :) I've noticed, depending on daily form and daytime, that I need about 3k to 5k to feel ready to get the best performance out. To be warm is not enough to pull some good times on t...

It's done!
It's done! The Swiss Rowing Indoors are over. It was a very intereseting experience, since it was the first time I competed in a sport. As said before, I had to start against the best rowers, thus moving in the lower field. The good thing was that it was the most anticipated and the last race of the...
