Re: Pm 3 monitor problems
Common fault on the first gen PM3. There is a track to the left of the MENU button that gets eaten away by corrosion. Basically there is a small what should be gold plated copper small round test pad. You will find that it has corroded away. I use a fibreglass rework pen, clean the copper tracks up ...

Re: Model D new sensor not fitting
The new twin "Yellow" coil pickup will not fit in the old plastic single "Yellow" coil pickup holder. You need to get the complete unit including the black plastic holder when you order one. The new design is much improved, it can now provide 100% of the power to the monitor while rowing so the batt...

Re: PM5 not connecting to smart phone
The whole Bluetooth hardware changed over the years so the older PM5's only work with older phones.
That said if it was working and now it tends to suggest some other problem.

Re: Pm3 circuit board parts
Common problems are, it comes loose or it cracks in half at the front. The crack can be hairline along the moulding mark. How does this happen? I can't imagine there would be any load on the socket to make it loose or crack. A well aimed DTH? Common fault, cracked or smashed or the socket forced of...

Re: Thoughts on tall vs. standard legs--
Go for the Model E if I was you.
If you are younger and putting out way more power get the short legs on the standard Model D.

Re: PM5 obsolete?
The whole Concept 2 rower could come with two options, those that want the existing PM5 setup and one for those that now want to move to a tablet that not only has the same monitor as an App but you can have a totally customisable setup like the widgits on my car display where you just integrate Er...

Re: PM5 obsolete?
Electric windows and central locking are a bit of a must have these days but the size of the user manual that came with my new car is something else and I seriously do not need half of the stuff but you must realise that the stuff is there because someone wanted it and lots go put in for safety reas...

Re: PM5 obsolete?
I almost get the feeling that some would be happy if the PM5 were a 'black box' hidden away, and you then plop in your phone/tablet and connect ergdata via bluetooth, then everything is magically ok as the main screen is now a device lol. For me it's more a case of "wouldn't it be better to do less...

Re: PM5 obsolete?
No way your phone is too slow over Bluetooth to process the raw data from a Bluetooth tach. Way less content than music, not even close its just a changing frequency pulse stream , its about as basic a signal as you can get. The PM5 is no longer simple, cheap or easy to service, its now a throw away...

Re: PM5 obsolete?
I suggested that C2 make a "Smart Tach" probably 5 years ago now. Use a self powered Bluetooth tach with battery backup and just run the whole "Monitor" on your smartphone as an App, but Concept 2 have not been interested. I think its coming, the PM6 will be your smartphone or tablet, people want th...
Re: Fans
Pretty much was using fingerless cycle gloves in the end for their ability to absorb sweat and this reduced the chances of letting go of the handle.hikeplusrow wrote: ↑August 5th, 2024, 3:27 pmGreat to know there are accomplished ergers who use gloves. Re: PM5 Display Won't Turn On
after all the monitor is almost 10 years old now so time to buy a new 4th Gen PM5. What are the V1 PM5's missing that makes it incompatible with bluetooth firmware updates and some apps? The actual hardware protocols must have changed because firmware updates cannot fix the problem. Bluetooth is up...
