Re: pm5 not connecting with hrm

Not a great fan of Bluetooth, its got better over the years but never had any issues with ANT+. I avoid Bluetooth where possible, always better to go with a wired connection where possible, Bluetooth is a bit of a last resort. Most chest HR monitors are dual these days, I wouldn't buy a Bluetooth on...

Re: pm5 not connecting with hrm

Factory reset the PM5 then update the firmware on it to the latest version. I notice the latest firmware versions of the PM5 are also getting far more descriptive with the Error codes if it throws one rather than just a number which is great if you are in the business of repairing them. Just had a 2...

PM5 Gen 1 rear case conversion to Gen 2 onwards

Just had an idea the other week to get rid of fitting any of the first gen PM5 battery rear covers to repaired monitors and only get the latest Gen covers. The first gen PM5 rear case design was not good, any battery leaks and its straight into the board and just about every write off monitor I see ...

Re: DQOTH (Dumb question of the day) on the PM5

It has no clearly defined units, what you are really looking for is the right overall shape.

Things like the ideal seamless transition from the legs to the arms etc.

Re: different magnets in flywheel?

No.

12 poles total 6 north and 6 south are needed from memory. The thing is glued to the flywheel and typically never goes "Missing"

Re: PM3 Accuracy?

An old PM3 can develop all sorts of issues due to corrosion on the board. The most common problem is people do not know about the hidden menu in the old PM3's that select the right version of Concept 2 you are using. Corrosion around the TACH output area of the board is common on the 1st Gen PM3, th...

Re: HRM Chest Strap - Not Connecting

Definitely prefer ANT+ for the heartrate. Lucky enough to have a genuine Garmin ANT+ USB dongle that plugs into the PC, the setup is pretty flawless. This then separates possible Bluetooth issues as the WattBikes chew up the Bluetooth with separate Cadence, Power source and resistance channels that ...

Re: HRM Chest Strap - Not Connecting

So what version of Firmware do you have on the PM5 ? Factory reset it, its not going to be a PM5 problem. HR straps are a bit of a nightmare to keep running 100% perfect. Soak the strap in water before you use it. If it doesn't work properly for the first few minutes, that's a classic its too dry un...

Re: Why Have Unverified Results On The Rankings?

Don't know why this is so important to some people, but for me the easiest solution from c2 side would be to add only verified meters to any challenge and dump the others. So the user can log whatever he wants for his own purposes and all rankings and challenges would only show verified meters. All...

Re: Diagnosing high current draw/battery drain on PM2 Rev 2.3

Something is not right around the MAX859, have you tried removing it and then trying to power up the PM2 ? Either the MAX is at fault or there is a possible earthing problem for it. Check the two Schottky diodes to see if they have a low Voltage drop on diode test and check they have a high resistan...

Re: Why Have Unverified Results On The Rankings?

Well I already ratted on 2 people ahead of me and C2 DQed them, so I may be a grifter and a snitch, but I'm doing my part. That was really nice of you. I hope this makes you feel better. Thanks, it did! They both had their logbooks visible. One guy rowed 1.7 million meters in a day. The other was a...

Re: Why Have Unverified Results On The Rankings?

There is no honesty in the community, that's why threads like this have been popping up for years. Events like the monthly Challenges were so annoying, I stopped rowing them. You literally row your guts out for a month solid with practically no days off to be beaten by people just manually entering ...

Re: HRM Chest Strap - Not Connecting

Don't use a crap multimeter. First I would change the battery in the multimeter, they need power to drive the Ohm's range. Just tried it on all four of my meters, Fluke 8842, Fluke 87V, Beckman HD110 and a Meterman 34XR and they all produced similar results near 100 Ohms on the AliExpress straps tha...

Re: Diagnosing high current draw/battery drain on PM2 Rev 2.3

You have possibly the best monitor C2 ever made in terms of reliability, as you have found out its just battery leakage that kills them or it would still be going. They are a pretty hard repair job for a one off and if the battery leakage is so bad its wicked up the keypad its pretty much toast. The...

Re: HRM Chest Strap - Not Connecting

Mmmmm cheap multimeter ? just tried it on an AliExpress strap, 96.5 Ohms. make sure you are on the carbon, if in doubt move out towards the extreme left or the right of the belt and of course we are looking at the part in contact with the chest. I have a 40 year old Beckman HD110 and a Fluke. Pretty...
