Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

8 x 500 3-30 rest Like meeting an old friend! First interval session for a couple of years. 1st 200 metres felt sooo easy and then by the end of the second rep I'm thinking 'I can't do 8 of these'. I did divide it into 2 x 4 500s with a slighly longer break between 4 and 5. The result of that was my...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Nicely done. Is that a 60's PB? With the 200k/week cycling fitness level if you switch more to rowing in the winter I would expect that time to come down quite a bit. Thanks Dino It is the best since 39-29 a month after my 60th birthday in 2017 so pretty chuffed. I just need to get a balance betwee...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Been away for a while from the forum but lurking occasionally to see what's going on. I have been cycling 200km/week for most of the year and it has improved my fitness no end. I have been doing a weekly(ish) 10k for variety. My 10ks have been steadily improving but not by huge margins. I had got d...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

10k today at r22 in just under 40 minutes, which I can now do without too much difficulty as I'm definitely getting fitter. Nice work. I have felt that getting under 40 mins for the 10k is a nice little early sign of progress if I've been off the erg for a while. As I've got older it takes a bit mo...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?

Hi Folks, First post for nearly a year although I have been training and occasionally looking on the forum to see what's going on. Truth is I just fell off for a while, ironically after helping with my daughter's rowing camp. A gym full of ergs but I didn't find time to jump on in between 'coaching'...

Re: Early NY resolution

Hi Dreadfish, Well done on keeping your challenge going for 6 weeks. If you can keep it going just think where you could be in a year! No quick fixes I'm sure and I need to lock down into something that gives me at least .5kg most weeks. Interesting to track resting heart rate, mine was 55 a few wee...

Re: Early NY resolution

Thanks for the reply Pie man. I didn't mention diet but that is clearly 90% or so of what I need to get right. I find it much easier to keep to a decent diet if I'm training well and feeling fit! I'm just keeping to a simple balanced diet and recording every morsel on My Fitness Pal. Good day today ...

Early NY resolution

Hi Folks So here I am back in the Forum which has always been a great source of information and motivation. I see from my own signiture that I have gained 10llbs from the outsize 238 that I was a year ago! TIme to act! So my aim is to be a bit more systematic in my training with an emphasis and a bi...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi folks, It's been a while since I last posted here although I have been lurking occasionally. I couldn't log in to the forum for a while for some reason. I have been erging (mostly distance) and also cycling. I had my bike stolen and ended up making an insurance claim and with a bit of extra cash ...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

HI Guys, I've been missing for a while as I couldn't log on to the site having been deemed 'inactive'. The rescue email wouldn't send and I had to set up a new profile to contact the admin and get unlocked! Anyway managed 25 10k+ days in March and carried on for the first few days of April. I haven'...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Gordon, feel for you mate! I've definitely been there a few times. I guess if you can identify any credible reason, illness? Hydration? Poorly timed nutrition and the like you can easily put it behind you. Sometimes it's just a bad day at the office and you just need to draw a line and move on, mayb...

6k wu
4 x 1k 5 min r
1. 1-49.1
2.1-48.4
3. 1-49.1
4. 1-49.6
PP suggests 2k + 1 so 1-51 or maybe 1-52 based on my recent 2k best
Of 7-23. Hard work and still not sure how I avoided HD on the last rep.
My HRM recorded peak of 178 , 5bpm above recent max so not sure how accurate?

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Hi Folks, I haven't posted for a few days but I have been looking at what is going on, some pretty impressive stuff, well done all! I've obsessing a bit with the mud challenge of totalling at least 10k for 25 days in March. Day 17 posted today! I have also been testing and experimenting to go for a ...
