Re: Why am I so slow at a low DF?

Thank You Sheehc, that makes sense.

I feel I'm well connected, so I'll just erg on. Have to get back doing my 30r20 at 110 DF, I believe it is the way for me to get better.

Re: Stroke Rate and Perceived effort

Hi Mikvan, what does Your HR tell you? I guess You measure it?

Re: Ranger's training thread

I think he'll go 6.43 this season. Or faster. But it will take him some races to get there.

Re: Ranger's training thread

I think 6.16 is sort of his poetic idea(l), his second writing in erg-training-thinking-dreaming-aspiring....be the best one can be sort of thing - The perferfect row.

Re: Why am I so slow at a low DF?

Interesting reading here. I usually row at 110 DF. Inspired by this thread I tried to do only legs, then back, then arms today to train power application and sequence. I was very surprised. I do use the legs quite correctly (I think), but I just could not do any serious work with them alone. I imagi...

Re: Ranger's training thread

For 600+ pages of 'the same' a lot of people seem quite excited? Could it be, that there is - among some of us - slight uncertainty: Could Ranger be right? I'm thrilled to see the raceresult result, admitted. Same thing last year.. We are short of Cowboys and horses here in Copenhagen, Denmark so I'...

Re: Ranger's training thread

Regarding SPI: for the fun of it I calculated SPI for the 7 fastest rowers in the Danish Open LW championship 10 days ago. Among them are some of the fastest lightweights in the world right now. I had to use average strokerate pr. 500 meters which is not fully accurate but allmost. SPI ranged from 1...

Re: Ranger's training thread

Does Rangers posting do any harm? I think not. Ok, he´s raging, and when he's pulling fast times it's by not doing what hes claiming to do (fx low drag factor). I understand that some people get offended, especially those fast ergers he was/is/will be competing against considering WR but still, atta...

Re: Stroke Rate and Perceived effort

Navigation Hazard, I think you're pointing out very precisely something that is valuable to daily training. In my 30r20 sessions I thought I was only/primaryly increasing peakforce, but reaching my limit (force, not aerobic) at pace 2.05 (I'm a newbie and a weak one, admitted) I had to realise I was...

Re: Stroke Rate and Perceived effort

As an extreme example of your answer You might want to read 'Rangers training thread', :-). As far as I understand rangers quest all his training has one overall aim: to increase his application of power to the handle in every single stroke towards 13 SPI and at the same time adapting his bodys abil...

Re: Stroke Rate and Perceived effort

Good answers. Measuring your heart rate can show you where your optimum is. For me it is 25 spm. for 10 kilomers/60 minutes. And a drag factor of 110. In cycling too, there is great individual variety, which is experienced and measured but can still not not be fully explained by neither physics nor ...
