Re: Arm weights?

This is a very good idea to build more endurance.

I do an uphill dryland skimo double pole workout with one pound weights on my trekking poles, but never thought of doing it on my ski erg.

Thank you for bringing this idea up.

Re: How well does a SkiErg complement the rower and elliptical?

I never get bored doing daily brick workouts alternating through my machines:

Bike trainer
Rower
Ski erg
Elliptical
Treadmill
Nordic Track Skier

Each machine works different muscles and they are all good in their own way.

Re: SkiErg and laser rifle

Thought a lot about it last fall and did google search. Recall cost for rifle and target was about $1500 USD. I set up an indoor archery range instead.

Re: Anyone use Training Peaks for Skierg?

Please disregard this post. I see that Training Peaks does not offer ski erg plans.

Re: XC videos to watch during workout

Very good idea! Concept2 needs to develop a "Smart Ski Erg" that would adjust the resistance to climbs on a particular course, just like my 2010 vintage Tacx bike trainer did, and many newer models do (e.g., Zwift). One could imagine buying DVDs or downloading various World Cup and Olympic race cour...

Re: How quickly does time pass while SkiErging?

For my 2-6 hours workouts, I now use the longer Spinnervals workout cycling DVDs (2-6 hours) to regulate my workouts (time, intensity, recovery intervals) and to help pass the time quickly. The Spinnervals workouts give tension settings for spin bikes (1-5), which I have replicated by marking damper...

Re: How quickly does time pass while SkiErging?

Not that concerned to watch all of the images, just catch a glimpse of some and to listen to the soundtrack. My DVD player system predates the iPad and my skierg workouts predate the Concept2 skierg. Before the Concept2 skierg, if you did not have a "Russian Wind Machine," one simply placed a rower ...

Re: How quickly does time pass while SkiErging?

I have small DVD player mounted on the wall.

For hard workouts, I choose a workout from my Swimervals DVD, which was designed for using Vasa Swim Ergometers. Nice to have Coach Troy barking times and commands at you. Time passes by really fast and workouts are extremely efficient.
