Re: 2k sub 6

If you put LeBron James on an erg right now, quickly showed him the basics of erging, and let him do a 2k, I doubt he would go faster than 6:45 or so, which weight adjusted wouldn't be that good whatsoever. Even if he did go faster for his weight he'd have to pull a 5:40 or so to be any good. I was...

Re: Percentage of World Records

Em I they only one who thinks seconds is the wrong value to measure it by? It gives you a false impression of how close you are to the elite, it should be measured in watts, then you know how much work is behind it. In seconds a 6:10 compared to a 5:37 would be 91% In watts its 442, 585 making it 75...

Re: 2k sub 6

Total guesstimate: 300-400, depending on things like whether it's an Olympic year and when in the training year the result might be achieved. Somewhere I have the April 1999 US national men's 2k test results. By my count no fewer than 40 men went sub-6 on the last or the next-to-last trial. Figure ...

2k sub 6

I had a huge discussion with some of my fellow rowers couple days back, about how many rowers in the world can make sub 6min on a 2k? So then we are talking about active rowers, and not inclusive runners, NFL, NBA and so on. So how many rowers in the world can go sub 6min on a 2k? Answers with sourc...

Re:

NZ is very lucky to have the two best scullers in the world fighting for the right to represent NZ in 1X. In the unlikely event of Mahe getting a better erg score than Rob it wouldn't matter. It would only have a 10% weighting towards National crew selection. Only the USA has an obsession with erg ...

BTW how can you add ur BP to your user under each of your comments automatically? I'm not sure if this is what you're asking (I'm not sure what a "BP" is in this context). But if you go to your profile (link is at the top of each page), you can add a "Signature" (which is described there as a "bloc...

Thanks for the many longer explanations on why or why not a weight gain would help your erg scores. In the end I do also row in a boat on the water, and there I know each kg less counts. The reason I brought the question up is that now we are off season only some few regattas. And in this period you...

Weight gain, automatic higher erg scores?

Hey I´m wondering, if you gain weight, even if its pure fat around your stomach, will this make you faster on the erg?
Would appreciate an explanation too, not just yes or no :)

I think the subtracting 12,5sec to ur 2k from 6k is a guesstimation, I can do a 6k at rate 21 300 watt average, 1,45,3 /500meter. so that means that i should be able to do 1,32,8 / 500 for a 2k? thats a 437.9 watt average ( and i cant do that for sure), and thats also far from my 6k record its just ...

Too long legs for the slides on the concept2 erg

Hey

What do you do when your legs are to long for the concept2 rowing machine, when you kick out your legs, the seat crashes to the back before your legs are extended.
