If holding your arms straight (during the recovery) is hard work, that's a good reason for not doing it. Relax and let the chain do the work, as the weight of the oar does afloat. But it's always a good idea to practice on the erg, and collapsing the arms during the recovery is bad technique, produ...

A 2:00 500m piece? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! Short people crack me up... And you're just a jerkoff. You should be proud, every coxswain I've had, sits on their ass, starves themselves, but still gains weight because they do nothing, they sit there and laugh at us while we sweat and...

I lifted alot and built up my biceps and fore-arms. While lifting is always helpful, your biceps and fore-arms really should not be used all that much in rowing. Yes not in rowing, but in erging, holding up that handle can actually be very strenuous when you first start out, its very difficult to h...

Welcome to one of the hardest addictions to quit, pretty soon you'll be waking up at 5 A.M. for a 10 mile run, erging all day, and lifting at night...well that's just me...but you get the point.

If you use short calls for like power 10's, a really short ONE-TWO-THREE etc. that normally works better, and you can work other motivational commands in between the count. Monot...

Bettering myself

I'm 6'4, 16 years old, and 173 pounds. My 2k is 7:19, I've only been rowing since I was 15, but I row on a varsity club and going into my 3rd year as a competitive rower. I train everyday either OTW, running, lifting, or erging (just got my own, yay) and yet for my height, I have a horrible 2k. I ha...

I had the same problem my novice year and most of my junior year, but then as I lifted alot and built up my biceps and fore-arms, I didn't feel that numb, empty feeling in my arms that I used to get half way during a piece. Technique, and arm strength are the key to this. Make sure you are using you...
