Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
My programme said cross training. So I spent an hour dancing in a nightclub in Iraq. Not sure that was what the programmer had in mind.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
3 mile steady state jog. Must start rowing soon, starting to miss it.
Crikey, you were lucky. Chain saws don't give paper cuts...a fancy cut in the left hand with a chain saw

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Still running. Run last 7 days out of 8. Well, blobbing along. Still no rowing, but the time will come, it is warming up.
1 mile warm up, 2.5miles of fartlek interval training, 1/2 mile cool down. Still no injury which is as pleasing as it is surprising.

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
5 mile jog first thing. 9.30 warm up, 9.05 hard, two miles walking and jogging, 1 mile cool off, 55 minutes. Keen to get down to sub 8 minute miles, and then extend sub 8 distances. Am overweight. Hard on the knees and tendons. Lost a few lbs in my first ten days back at work. Have it to lose. Still...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
4 mile jog. Looking to get back to sub 8 minute miles, before building any endurance. Managed 9 minutes, then 10, then all bets were off and I just got around. Crikey that was hard work. PR unusually high, and very high perceived effort. Horrid - but feel better for doing it. When I was a kid one of...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
First day back on it after almost a month away on leave. Doubled in body weight, tripled resting pulse rate, and halved my press-up capacity. At least I have not lost my capacity to exaggerate! This morning a 2 mile jog of jelly, (painting a picture here) and a quick 1k welcome back to the rowing ma...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
I see lots of "runners" passing our house, 90% plus hurts my eyes, super slow and unfit. Same where i live, i see the same lol. Run past me when i'm walking the dog and they are barely going any quicker than my walking pace. Then typically they will have stopped for a breather several 100 yards fur...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Thanks for what you do Chris. It's easy to take it for granted. Err.... thank you for the thought. I have done my time, in the past, in Ulster and Afghanistan, but I am sorry if I misled you, right now I'm on the dark side... 'guns for hire' / 'contractor for money' all that kind of thing. (Don't l...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Been idle. Fallen off the training wagon a bit, with the handy excuse of bid work, and travel. Waking up and thinking 'I'll go tonight instead' is my most frequent self deception. Thought I would do a 22k a couple of days ago, set off to hot, settled for a 30 minuter. Currently in Basra, getting a b...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Now that is my kind of row! Good effort.
Not that I have rowed that far, but a triple marathon is an outstanding challenge I have yet to complete...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?
Both a metaphor for my career, and a description of my working day, all in one. Starting to understand why I like rowing!many people are able to just sit staring at a blank wall going nowhere with no one else

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?
I have not run to the same level as you, or with the same passion, but I can vouch for rowing as a great way of attaining fitness with lower risk of injury. I needed to get fit in 2009, but was heavy, probably 17 stone. Too heavy to run much and not get injured. I always get injured running , be tha...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
THEN went with a buddy to the Appalachian Trail and walked Helluva a route. Pal of mine walked the length last year, in his 60s, with trashed lungs from smoking, and post triple heart bypass surgery. I have met few more determined men. https://www.gofundme.com/4qnszvmk For me, nothing so serious. T...

Not sure I deserve to post at the moment.
Crikey, is it a competition? I thought we were just competing against ourselves!
