Re: Forum Flyers

Nice effort Piers.

I made my first effort today as well. I ended up with a bit of a fly and die on the 1250m leg. Total time 7:32.2. I haven't been very consistent this month but I'll give another effort next week. Unfortunately after that no more rowing for me for the rest of October.

Re: 1 month fast? thoughts and advice needed

I don't get it. You have already proven you can lose weight. The problem is the maintenance levels afterwards. This doesn't fix that either.

Good starting place would be a 5k TT or at least a hard 5k row. Slowly build the plan pace from a pace you can actually maintain and finish.

Re: Forum Flyers

Thanks. I was just curious as with all the names you previously mentioned I knew you were responsible for getting people to fill at least several boats. :D

Re: Forum Flyers

Nice row Lindsay.

How many people from your gym were in FF CTC boats last month?

Re: Forum Flyers

I'm back on the erg after almost for weeks of work travel. Just some shortish sessions to get back into things (5k and 30 min) the first couple days. I wanted to do some sprints next and decided to pickup a marker for the ctc. Maybe not the best idea with the short rests but I gave it a shot anyways...

Re: Forum Flyers

Sorry to hear that. I hope you aren't down for too long. It sucks to be away from what we want to do no matter what the reason.

Re: Forum Flyers

Nice work, don,t overly count, in the end its the rowing that counts most :D One more go with a bit less intense focus on strokes. Being more relaxed let me drop about 7 seconds off my previous attempt. I think the first interval is the hardest for me to balance rate and pace, but I can mostly just...

Re: Forum Flyers

I gave it another go this morning and was able to hit the stroke targets. I still feel that I'm way too focused on the stroke targets to push out my best times. Guess that's what makes this one difficult. Recorded 7:43.0 with the slight improvement coming on the last 500m. Also trying to do my part,...

Re: Forum Flyers

Yes on paper. In reality the 500 interval is so short the actual tolerance is minus 0 strokes and plus 1 stroke. I tried counting strokes for 30 seconds. On both 500s I over corrected after the 1:30 mark. Missed 1 high and the other low. I think there was plenty more in the tank as I was too focused...

Re: Forum Flyers

I may have a go at this tomorrow. Are you guys figuring out your target pace and then calculating a target number of strokes or just watching the PM and counting the number of strokes that you miss according to the monitor? Does the PM round everything down? For example an actual 21.9 spm average (t...

Re: Pete Plan 2017

Here's the Ed McNeely article too. I modify the workout to 20 seconds, not 10 (because you can't program 10 seconds on the PM). It's a brutally hard workout. I've never made it to 20 yet. I think 16 was my best without losing that 10% power he talks about (when you want to stop until you recover fu...

Re: Forum Flyers

Gave this months CTC a go yesterday. Aside from last month these sprints are new territory for me. It's fun figuring out paces and seeing how the different rests and distances make a difference. Seems I would benefit from some more power to my stroke as well. I picked a target, decided it was too ea...

Re: Forum Flyers

3rd attempt was not the charm. I bit off a little more than I could chew on the 777m interval. I guess the 2nd attempt will stand. It looked like a good idea on paper :D

Re: Forum Flyers

Nice one, Rohan!

I am thinking about giving it another try tomorrow. My thought is to slow down the first set of 177s a bit from my previous attempt to see if I can speed up the 777m.
