This forum's search function has gone mental
Or rather, it's just not terribly effective. I'm trying to run a search for an acquaintance who is having a familiar "man problem" as a new rower, but can't find anything. On a lark, searching for a term like "rowing" gets about three threads as results; PM3 gets only one. Obviously, something's gon...

Not starting a new thread...
I've been sick for over a month now -- started as a cold and then turned into long-term bronchitis. I'm still coughing, but I feel okay otherwise... I just cough a lot. I've been laying off exercise (still walk 4 km to/from work every day) to try to get better, but this damn cough just won't go away...

Just the Polar watch?
Bought the chest strap and C2 plugin a while ago, and it works really well! Now I'd like to add a watch to the ensemble for running, but I can't find anywhere that sells watches without chest straps. Anybody know of a place I can buy just the watch? I don't need anything fancy -- just something that...

(not sure if this is helpful or not; I don't know what your project is about, but if you're looking from responses from a broad section of the erging community, including those that don't have any interest in rowing-as-culture, here's one:) Never read any books on rowing. I don't have a preference; ...

Any early-morning EST rowers out there?
EST=Eastern Standard Time, not the thing where some guy in a nehru jacket yells at you about your life for two days. I row 10km at 6 a.m. (11 a.m. GMT) pretty much like clockwork on Tuesdays and Thursdays; usually between 2:03 and 2:06 (best time ever was 1:58, and 2:06+ is a really bad day). I'm lo...

Well, I can provide some fuzzy numbers/calorie correlations from memory off the top of my head. If this helps at all. RowPro (using, I assume, PM3 data) says I burn about 630 calories in a 10K for a 43:00 row, 666 (!) for a 40:00 row. Half-marathons come out at about 1280; those are about 93-96 minu...

Searching for this information today -- odd that it got bumped so recently. Maybe it's a spring fever thing. I'm trying harder to track my "input/output" of calories in vs. exercise out these days, not with fanatic precision but just to start a good food and exercise diary that I can maintain consis...

Angela, there's a some skepticism being laid out here about your motivation for participating in this forum; especially as you're linking to for-profit weight loss schemes in the "Weight Loss" section of what is supposed to be a forum for rowers to help each other stay motivated and stay fit, for, w...

During the week I catch up on long-running Japanese anime series -- I'm on episode 72 of Bleach now -- two episodes fill out a 10k row pretty well. For the last few Saturday mornings I've started a tradition of treating myself to a half-marathon and a terrible action movie. Last week was Mr. Majesty...

Hi all, The file is currently named "row.jpg". It's on my C drive: C:/row.jpg; 250 pixels wide, 240 pixels high, 14.5 kB. Clicking on some "rower of the day" profiles and it's very comparable to those. And thanks Alissa, but I'm talking about the main Concept2 profile, the one that links from your "...

I can't upload a profile photo?
It is a jpg, it's 250 pixels wide and 248 pixels high, and 15 kb in size. I keep getting the error message "you can only upload .jpg files."
It, er, is.
Any ideas?

What's working for me right now...
I'm reasonably tech-savvy (not brilliant, but I know my way around the Internet, etc.) and I have a ludicrious amount of space thanks to a very good deal with Dreamhost, so I started a diet blog. It's nothing fancy -- just a rough scratchpad for me to keep track of intake and burning and jot things ...

Must one have a Polar F11 to use the Concept 2?
On the sales site, I've noticed that they have a HRM for sale that plugs directly into the Concept 2, but also a "receiver kit" that synchronizes with the Polar F11 (but due to a site glitch, you can't actually ORDER the Polar F11, just the Concept 2 receiver kit). As the site says: If you would lik...
