Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Glenn, I hope after some time away you come back to the training board. I always looked at your times for motivation. 54 and 5' 8", you put out some serious power! Best of luck. I attempted the 5x1500 r5. I didn't know how to pace these since I've never done an all out 5000 (the pacing Pete suggests...

9000 at 2:09.1 19 spm strapless.

Anth I just got caught up on your injury on the training board. I hope you're better soon. Don't rush it, a set back would be a bummer.

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Glenn, I believe I've seen on here that you occasionally ride a mountain bike. I'd suggest you skip your row this week and hit your favorite trail. Better still, If you have a good lamp go for a night ride on that trail. It's an absolute rush! No screen staring back at you, no calculations to run in...

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Solid improvement Tim. Strong finish versus your last distance session. Last interval 2 seconds faster pace over 1800 at reduced stroke rate. Looks like mission accomplished!

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

PP day 1. Jack you were right. Compared to the BPP the additional rest almost made these tolerable.

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Barry, great intervals. Off 2' mins rest and after some illness too, you'll be catching up with your son pretty soon at this rate :D. Thanks John. Although I've still got about an inch height advantage and a 55 pound weight (dis)advantage over my son I won't ever match his power and fitness :D . He...

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Thanks Luke. I've been catching up with postings on the board and read about your warm training environment. Last year the University of Oregon did a study on endurance athletes training at high temperatures. Apparently one of the factors causing fatigue is when the body's core temperature rises too...

BPP W7 d2 7x500m. Pleasantly surprised by the result. Completely emptied the tank on this one.

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Hi everyone. I'll catch up reading the board later tonight. I meant to take a day off and it turned into 4 after I strained something in my hip playing basketball. It's a young man's game, eventually I'm going to have to shut it down. Tonight I tested my hip by stretching W7 d1 into a 10k at 2:09.7....

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Thanks Piers. Judging by your FIFTH 1500 your 2k PB could be lowered significantly whenever you feel like taking it on. Strong finish.

John nice 10k. Sub 40 is very impressive.

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Thanks Glenn.

I had the same thought when I saw Jack's photo. You're looking ripped Jack! I've got to stick with this program and maybe throw in some kettle ball workouts.

Performing a couple circuits of my weight routine prior to these interval workouts feels like it gives me more power. Maybe it's just psychological. Does anyone else moderately lift prior to speed work?

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd

Gordon: It's fortunate that you weren't injured. I would do the 5000 if I had to choose one. I tend to feel rested and ready to go the day after the distance pieces. After some of the intervals I take my rest day, especially if I've gone all out. If you do the 5000 you can jump right into week 7 rea...
