Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Start the plan from week 1 or 2? I'm going to do a 5500 for time to see where my fitness level is today. Let me know what your best advice would be? My last real workout was on 9-5. On 9-9 I tried to do the 4X750 intervals and failed. Haven't been in since. I'd do week 2 again, the advice from the ...

Hi everyone! I'm back after an extended batte with a viral and bacterial infection. Feeling good now, but wondering where to get back in the groove? Start the plan from week 1 or 2? I'm going to do a 5500 for time to see where my fitness level is today. Let me know what your best advice would be? My...

PP Week 2
Day 1
5.5k - 23:41 - 2:09.1 split - 25s/m
My average split from last weeks 5k was 2:10.2. I have very happy I was able to achieve a 1.1 second improvement with a 500m longer row. Good start to the week. Those 750's coming up tomorrow look barf inducing...

Day 4 Optional 20 min row 20mins - 4589m - 2:10.7 500m split - 25s/m At the 15 min mark I was at 2:13.2 500m split. Again, I reached down and pulled. Ended .5 seconds behind my 5k split average from yesterday. A little ticked off, but find the timed rows are harder to judge the timing of pace vs dis...

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Just finished Day 3 of the BPP. Unlike @Joseph I found this pretty brutal. Plan was to target an average 2:16.6 split (split from Day 1 5k). Managed 2:16.8 but at what cost? Right leg completely seized at around 2500m and I had to back off completely for a minute or so. Finished the piece but compl...

Pete's Plan Day 3 My goal was to abide by Pete's direction and not go out too fast and to try and equal my results from Day 1. I failed.... Day 1: 5k - 22:15.9 23s/m 500m split at 2:13.5 Today: 5k 21:42...

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
G-dub - Thanks man I will do that next time. My name is Joseph.
Jackarabit - I appreciate the compliment. After #2 I was thinking these 500m intervals are no joke and I better pace myself like Pete says in his description! After #6 I was gassed. I pulled really hard on the last 250m..

Re: Pete Plan Group - Startup Aug 20th thru 22nd
Hello everyone. I'm new to the boards and wanted to introduce myself because I'm going to be starting Pete's Plan for Beginner Training next week on Monday. I not really sure of the protocol in joining the group, but it looks like a short intro was provided by some new members, so I will do the same...

Re: New to Rowing - So Many Questions!
I was where you are at one point and while you'll get different answers from the hardcore types on here, but what served me best was meters, meters, meters and pushing myself for improvement. The low rate can't hurt but to me it is over stated on here. I rated down to 20spm for a million meters, it...

Re: New to Rowing - So Many Questions!
Thank you all for your replies. To try and answer everyone here is a brief history: I am 36 years old and stand 5'10" tall. Like I said I weigh 200lbs today. I have a muscular build from weight training in my 20's. Big legs and calves and very broad shoulders. My arms are on the shorter side, along ...

New to Rowing - So Many Questions!
Hello everyone - I am new to this sport, as in I have been rowing on a Concept 2 since January. I have used rowing as a way to get back into shape after nearly 10 years working and neglecting my physical fitness. Rowing has literally changed my life. Before January I was a 5'9" 230 lb blob with very...
