Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

I fell out of this boat a few years ago when I started focusing primarily on running. Now I'm waiting for knee surgery - it seems like running over 1,700 miles a year might be overdoing it - so I'm back on the erg, and trying to make a contribution to the team challenge 🙂 Feels good to be back after...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Hey everyone - just a short note to apologise for being a terrible team member this year :-( I promise that I haven't become ludicrously lazy, I just set myself a running target of 1,000 miles for 2017 so most of my training has been pounding the pavement or trails, rather than on the erg. We've als...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Thanks for the update Angela. Turned in my 8th mud season day - I've had one rest day so far, so still on track. I'm taking my wife away for her birthday this weekend, though, so another rest day may slip in there. Weather is - for the most part - bright and dry in the UK at the moment, so I'm tryin...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Spent most of February running instead of rowing - partly because the weather has been pretty good, and partly because I wanted to rest up a little between the new year challenge and the mud season that kicked off today. Put in 10k for day one and will try to keep it up. March is looking pretty busy...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Riyad, I wish you and your daughter all the best in choosing a college. You must be very proud! I am fortunate to have put two sons through college, and my daughter is now starting to look into where she would like to go next year. And we'll do it one more time in four years with my youngest son. H...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Riyad E - Thank you so much for being a regular post-er. Great job with the 2nd 200k challenge in a row. The HC knocked me out...but I did get my pin in the mail. Did you? By the way, you don't have to meet a goal that you post. You don't have to worry about that. There is too much else to think ab...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Yesterday I was sure that I wasn't going to hit my goal for the team challenge, but today I decided to suck it up and pull 25,000m on the last day to make sure I did. Very tired now, but at least I kept my word and turned in the 200,000m I promised I would :-) I haven't been lazy, I promise - it's j...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Wow - don't check the forum for a while and there's a flurry of activity! Hope you recover soon Gabi - just remember not to push yourself too soon, or you'll end up away from the erg for much longer. It's all too easy to have an injury drag on if you're too eager to get back into training - been the...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Hey Angela, Can you put me down for 200k in the team challenge - it's come pretty soon after the holiday challenge, but I'll try to deliver a similar effort. Oh, and don't think I haven't noticed that every time I get close to your total, you manage to sneak in a few extra metres to stay ahead

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

I have been thoroughly enjoy the Fall-like weather here in San Antonio by running 35 miles a week. I signed up for the next challenge, which starts on the 1st. I have to do all kinds of Army traveling for the next 60 days, but I will pull a few meters for the team! San Antonio was the first place I...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Thanks for the update Angela - much appreciated as always :-) It's been a bit tough getting regular sessions in this time - having my hallway floor laid, so haven't always been able to get to the gym room, let alone try and make space to set up the rower in amongst all the tiles, tools, bags of ceme...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Riyad, I think you can do it. I have been wondering when you will pass me. Part of each Challenge is actually having the time in your schedule to row. Keep up the great rowing! -Angela P I doubt I'll be passing you anytime soon if we're both putting in 200k this month. Believe me, it's been hard en...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Thursday is usually my rest day, but I made an effort this evening since it's the start of the challenge :-)

Put me down for 200k please Angela - hopefully doable.

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

I'm with Jim on this one - I think it's essentially a case of conditioning. It's like when you first start cycling and you barely notice the burn in your lungs and legs because your backside hurts so much, but if you keep getting back on the bike, after a while you'll realise that the pain disappear...

Re: TimbukTOO Team Room

Managed to squeeze in the 40-4-40 today, so that's another one ticked off. I was actually convinced that it was on Friday - kind of made more sense that it would be on the 4th, given all the fours in the challenge - so I turned in a very tired 10k on Friday after I got home from work only to find th...
