I took belugaa's great idea a step further using the Titan 60762 15" Straight Nose Locking Pliers from Amazon:

There is clearance even at resistance level 2 because the handle angles outward.

I have tried a few saddles and finally found success with the Selle Royal Ellipse Relaxed Bike Seat.

Thank you for that input, it looks like a good unit. I have a rubber cover on mine, so it won’t slide side to side, but I do wonder if my wife’s bare metal one might slide around. Is there anything in the cradle to prevent that, or have you guys noticed any side to side sliding under heavy rowing? ...

The RowFree fits the PM5 monitor perfectly. My 12.9” iPad Pro is very stable on the holder and there are no chain collision issues. Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
