Re: Compare rankings
Finally, I think there is sufficient evidence to demonstrate that performance does not follow a straight-line. I don't know...after a lot of reading studies and comparing a lot of data I can imagine, that in the end the AVERAGE decline in performance maybe simple just something like 1%(in wattage) ...

Re: Compare rankings
Thanks, I'm still impressed by the speed of the search-engine (https://solr.apache.org/) the website uses.lnvzyl@gmail.com wrote: ↑June 11th, 2021, 2:54 amThank you for providing the erg community with this program and, also, for updating it continually, Siebe. It is very useful.

Re: Compare rankings
Hi Siebe, are you still interested in ideas related to setting up a competition accross ages? The following is a relatively simple idea for a transparant ranking: Each individual in a given category (HW-M, LW-M, HW-F, or LW-F) who beats at least one other person in the same category receives a PBYA...

Re: Compare rankings
Hi all, I was quite involved in other software-development projects, and my personal fitness was also in issue.... But now I'm back into rowing and may have some extra time to spend on new ideas. I will keep you posted. Btw, the issue where the search-engine after a few days stopped working was not ...

Re: Compare rankings
Solved issues: Lately there were some issues with the search engine. It sometimes stopped working. You could search for virtual things that were not really searchable like Wattage and Km/h. You could search for alphabetical data in numeric-fields And search for time-data went wrong because time-data...

Re: Compare rankings
For anybody who is interested in age-related decline in the normal rowing machine, I have created a daily cronjob that exports csv's into a zip. For every distance/time, weight-class and gender a csv-file is generated. In each csv-file there are rows for the best performance per age as long as there...

Re: Level playing field across ages and across events
After studying age-decline in several distances, I have found that the acceleration in the drop of performance is quite subtleMudSweatAndYears wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 7:10 pmIn the above equation the performance drop with age accelerates (as data indicates), and results in an ever faster performance drop.

Re: Level playing field across ages and across events
For anybody who is interested, I have made csv-export's of all best performances for the normal rower. They are split into: distance/time, weight-class and gender In each file there are rows for the best performance per age as long as there are more than 5 performances for that age. You can downloa...

Take a look at https://www.rankedworkouts.comArmandoChavezUNC wrote: ↑February 17th, 2021, 2:15 pmthink you'll find most erg WRs are done by athletes in the 30-40 age group than the 20-30.
Select your filters and discover it's fifty/fifty.

Re: Level playing field across ages and across events
Many thanks for all your hard work and interesting formula. The data is also missing from most of the very best as there erg performances are kept from international competitors. So data will always be deficient. Personally I see the Nonathlon as something for older athletes to aspire to when there...

Re: Level playing field across ages and across events
Henry, that is a fair point. (Maybe the formula has to take this more into account).
But on the other hand some do have extraordinary talent to achieve great performances but were not in the position to do that at their 20-30's.

Re: Level playing field across ages and across events
I have been busy for a while and did not read this threat. Very interesting formula's.
Did you find something similar for the shorter work where it seems that age does not have the same impact on performance as does endurance?
As you maybe know I'm trying to solve this issue as well for my site.

Re: Compare rankings
Sorry Siebe, my unreserved apologies, I see what I am saying has been indexed. I had the verified settings on “yes” rather than “race”. Are Race and yes not technically the same thing since they are both verified? Hi Freddie, Verified=Yes and Verified=Race are almost the same. Concept2 makes 1 exce...

Re: Compare rankings
Hi Freddie, I just finished the implementation of the WR-records on https://www.concept2.co.uk/indoor-rowers/racing/records/world. The code tries to find matching records that were found on https://log.concept2.com/rankings, based on name, season, age and speed. So if one these properties differs i...
