Re: Damper and distance
Sorry but yet another damper question!! Strictly a distance question...if I set the damper at 5 and then at 3 and perform the same exact stroke with the same exact speed will there be a difference in distance? You would produce more power performing the exact same stroke at damper setting 5 than at...

Re: Damper and distance
If you erg at 2:00/500m pace the distance displayed will increase by 500m every 2 minutes irrespective of stroke rate or damper setting.hollygirly310 wrote:Ahhh getting it, so I should just keep the same pace to travel the same distance no matter what the damper is set at, yes?

Re: Help me go sub-7:00 for the 2k
I did 8x500@2:00 today. Last one at 1:58. I took 2:00 rest as I'm still kind of beat from last night's class. 2:00 rest isn't enough - you need to go much faster and more rest will help. Do your 8 x 500 intervals with 3:30 rest If that seems too long put more effort in and pretty soon it wont seem ...

It takes a fair bit of understanding but its well worth it. Here is another document for you to study which should answer a lot of the questions you may have and of course you can get an almost unlimited amount of information by asking the experts on here. https://quantifiedrowing.files.wordpress.co...

Re: Performance Diet Types and Terminology
Interesting thread. I read Why We Get Fat & What To Do About It by Gary Taubes a couple of years ago. I was confused when he wrote “we aren’t getting fat because we over eat – we over eat because we are getting fat”. That seemed crazy but he made a good argument for it – something along the lines of...

I know many have done it before but the results were not as expected: DF as delivered on damper setting 10: 203 DF with damper and screen removed: 175 ( but higher perceived effort than above) DF with damper in place (setting 10) but no screen: 66 ( much higher perceived effort than above) WTF is g...

Re: Motivate me to do 10k tonight
Check out Wolverine Plan Level 4 sessions.
The concentration required to hit a prescribed pace and stroke rate that changes every few minutes takes your attention away from the distance you have covered or the distance you have remaining.
10k sessions become far more interesting.

Re: Can I improve?
My guess is you can reach about 8:30 2k, which is 170W and 3.5 W/kg. That's interesting. Where does the 3.5W/kg figure come from James, is it age/gender related or an overall rule of thumb? I calculated my W/kg output during my own 2K PB 6+ years ago which came out at exactly 3.5 W/kg although I co...

the same autodidact in the classroom that he was in this forum. A lot of what ranger wrote was tongue in cheek but he came out with some gems. I made a note of this from 2010. Actually, I _did_ see a therapist once, back in college. But it only took me a few minutes to figure out that I was _much_ ...
