Re: Typical differences in split times at different diatances
J I guess if there is a meaningful relationship here it would be better expressed as % change in Watts rather than seconds per 500m, as the latter means different things based on the denominator of your maths, however I suspect in realty the variation seen in the relationship means that seconds per ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Looks like solid work, will have to let us know about the experiment and if something we can adopt. Will do mate. I certainly noticed the difference between 115df and 151df, but maybe with adaptations it will feel more natural Very nice consistency on that HM Stu. When you say eyes closed is that l...

Re: Building endurance base / MHR
Bodi, When I was at my fastest (2k PB of 6:59.6) I was doing my steady state at around 2:11, though I was there essentially doing 3 slow and 3 hard sessions a week. As Henry says over time your steady state may get quicker, but 2k + 24 (which 2:09 would be if you're at 7:00) is not way out of the ra...

Re: Eric Murray Videos on Youtube
Not the world record and obviously not even his best but I assume if Concept2 had a 'nudged by goat during' record category this would be a strong contender!

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
30r20 with a controlled negative split. Happy with the result but a bit tougher than I'd have liked it to be.

Re: Eric Murray Videos on Youtube
These are a joy to watch Glenn I completely agree. Are there many other sports where you have one its greatest athletes of all time creating this sort of content? Erging obviously lends itself to this by the nature of the workouts and numbers, but the exposure here to someone with Eric Murray's exp...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
One thing new is that I’m not as able to pull lighter strokes (ok big dogs, I know mine are already light) as well as I used to. Seems like I’m wanting more power per stroke. But I would need to lighten them up to go any distance. Glenn what about just lowering SPM for the longer pieces? Certainly ...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
122! Thats pretty good max speed Rod! I agree - no way I could get anywhere near that low I don't reckon! Rod did you up the DF to get that? For me today: 7500m - 2:02.8 at a strict 20spm. Was not planning to go quite that fast and in fact average was still sitting on 2:04.0 with 1,500 to go but up...

Re: Why can I do intervals but struggle with TTs?
Last point, I my view shorter intervals, do not match well with TT. Make the intervals longer with also, much longer rest and they will. Example not 250 reps, 500m for 1k. Not 500m, but 1k reps for 2k For 5k use 2/2.5k reps. Above 5/6k don,t think interval work helps that much more. Henry on the lo...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Great stuff Rod - another incredible display from you there - congratulations!
You speak about being braver with the early pace - for efforts like this and your recent HM record what sort of pacing strategy are you employing? I'm assuming some sort of negative split?

Re: Why can I do intervals but struggle with TTs?
Gammmmo (always need to count carefully I've got the number of 'm's right), Not coming from a position of a large number of TTs, but here's one idea - do some 'almost-TTs' - so the distance under question (1k for you at present) - in the 90-95% range of target Watts - just to get more used to the di...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
4x2000m/5:00r Average of 1:57.3 across the 4 intervals - certainly not super punchy but haven't done much in the last week and a bit so was happy enough with this. I reckon this is about my 'favourite' hard workout - in that I look froward to it, it sucks while I'm doing it but then has a good sense...

Marius, not sure how long ago you did it but can I for one say I appreciate you putting both the erg and ski numbers in your signature block!
And obviously also congratulations on the continuing great times!
