Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
Forgot the link on Greg's blog. So you have everything you need. You will need to change the .xlsx file extension to .xlsm to enable macros in Excel. I don't believe it will work on your Mac. Know nothing about Home Office. I have a page of instructions for use if you should need them. I liked the ...

Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
The published link to the RP extractor @ Free Spirits Rowing went up in e-smoke with the C2 UK site and now links to Concept 2, the home team, in VT. The program isn't immediately in evidence. I have a copy which I will share if you wish. You will need a copy of Xcel 7, 10, or 13. i think greg smit...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?
A nice assessment, I think. I've heard of RowPro, but never used it, or even considered using it so far. Your comments are enlightening though. Thanks for taking the time... The website for RowPro and online rowing is https://digitalrowing.com/ Pam Loeffen and her husband Pete Loeffen founded the c...

Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
Interesting that Dan Burpee's Exel templates for RP rowfiles added personal max and resting HR as a contributor to zone determination. Your zone individualization workaround is ingenious, John, and must create a welcome congruity of perceived effort and HR. Such congruity or disparity (as the case ...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?
I heard that the average Rowpro user opens the program only a few times before he becomes frustrated, eats his hat, and has no further use for the C2. B) If true, that might be because those people are technology-averse or techno-minimalists. I'm sure a lot of people have tried it who did not end u...

Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
Encountered terminology in wgt. training article which is suggestive that Ackland may speak platehead as well as OTW: http://main.poliquingroup.com/ArticlesMultimedia/Articles/Article/898/Ten_Things_You_Should_Know_About_Tempo_Training.aspx From the context, I figured out what "platehead" means but...

Please let us know if Mr. Ackland presents a remotely useful gloss on his confusing glyphs! The book by Jon Ackland arrived: http://i.imgur.com/m3D4o3V.jpg It is rather complicated in my opinion. The two pages shown in the image below are just two of at least a few dozen pages that relate to the to...

Re: How good is a 1:30/500m time?
http://i.imgur.com/1UcO8QS.jpg So im a very fit young guy both aerobically and anaerobically (my main sport is cycling), but havent really trained with a rowing machine although i know how to pace hard aerobic activities. I did this time, although it was my max at this current time, i reckon i coul...

On the strength of that photo, years of erging have clearly worked wonders for Jack in terms of complexion and prevention of male pattern baldness. Hi Rowan. "Bald is beautiful" too, so Jack doesn't need to worry about that either way :) It was vicariously very enjoyable to watch that video and oth...

Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
i tend to think a lot of the publications are written for the public as general and not as individuals. as such some of the paces, rates etc. are gerneralised and are open for a little intepretation or adaption for the individual. - in other words - nice, i'll stick to the frame of the plan but do ...

Re: Beat up runner asks: Can rowing replace running?
I'm 52 and have been running pretty much since high school. I'm running 50-60 miles/week. (6', 150) I'm getting really beat up and trying to figure out if rowing could take the place of running. For background, I run outside, usually before work in the dark. Miles are between 8:00 to 8:30, dependin...

Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
... Exactly, although I don't think it's meant to be precise; just more a less a ball-park estimate. Half pressure is roughly equivalent to UT3 at least from my experience. When we were told to do 85%, we just did full pressure anyway so we could stay ahead of the other boats in practice  LOL ...

... Please let us know if Mr. Ackland presents a remotely useful gloss on his confusing glyphs! Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
It's something you'd hear a lot in coached sessions OTW. It's really just a rough estimate of what you think your "max" pressure would be at a given rate on a given day. My half pressure could roughly be 2:15 at a 24, or 2:00 at a 30. It's nowhere near an exact science. Here's a decent example. You...

Re: RowPro Training Plan Codes
Hey John. Thought you'd gone to ground there. Good to hear from you. I don't remember seeing those abbreviations elsewhere, not in O'Neill & Skelton or Flood & Simpson indoor rowing guides. Hard to calculate percentage of the unquantifiable! Could pressure equate to force on the rower handle? ErgDa...
