Re: Knotty Knitters Team Room
I just happened across this Team, as I was looking for other knitters to affiliate with for the Holiday Challenge or other upcoming challenges. I don't see this Team listed as an affiliation for anyone on the Holiday Challenge Honor Boards...is it still active?

Re: Ducks & Friends Together Team Open for VTC
Hey, Denise. How many ducky DAFTs do we have for the VTC? Now that I'm over the bug that got me mid-December, I got bit by another bug...this time a bee who must have crawled in from the snow, because he stung my heel as I was sitting at my computer the other day! I iced it immediately & took antihi...

21K before Breakfast?? Wow!
Storm, you are awesome, going for 21k in the morning before work!! Just this week I am trying to get readjusted to morning workouts. Since I got back to erging as my primary exercise (last Oct.), it is almost always evenings after work or afternoons on weekends. But it really puts a cramp in the day...

Summer Reading List
Hey, Storm, I'm really catching up with you tonight. I got Red Rose Crew from the library but didn't have time to finish when it was due. I'll hope to get it again, a good book to take to summer camp. Not related to rowing, but I just finished Saving Fish from Drowning (Amy Tan). A departure for Tan...

Way to go, Storm Petrel!!
Conga-rats, SP!! Not sure if you mean your pace was 2:39 splits, or it was 2 hrs and 39 min, but either way, it is a terrific sense of accomplishment! I erg because I love it as exercise, and I do these contests because they motivate me to keep at it. I'm not at all fast, but I do like to keep up a ...

Good work, Rookie
Hi, Rookie, I am not qualified to give exercise advice, but I have read in numerous sources that in order to make a real impact on weight loss with exercise, you need to work out for at least 45 min. If I remember correctly, it takes that long in the metabolic cycle to burn through carbs and start t...

Just did my first half-marathon!
I am a happy quacking duck, just finished that 21097!! I was most worried about getting saddle sore, but wasn't too bothered until after 15k. Usually when I row 10k, the soreness sets in after 7, so it must have been the mental conditioning. I'd hoped to do a full marathon, but have been slowed by i...

Hi, happy quackers! I can sympathize with everyone's issues: crazy work, crazy hours, slumping motivation, trying to find a way to fit it into my day, usually evening. Over President's weekend, I got a little carried away snow shoeing through really deep stuff and caused a flare up in my hips (proba...

Hey, Shenley, you're right, a bit quieter than January. Maybe we're all just taking a deep breath after that challenge! I think I inadvertently posted my goal on another thread, but it was the same as January: 50k or 5x week. I'm aiming to do the marathon in April, so I'll need to ratchet up meterag...

WooHoo...finished up January challenge with 10k tonight. After an all-afternoon client presentation, picking up 12 yo son, spending nearly two hours to get his homework done and reorganized, didn't get to the erg til nearly 8 p.m. I'm really tired now, so just going to grab some soup and head to bed...

Hi, Widgeon. I've always done those air squats with active thigh parallel to the floor, but as I blew my right ACL totally out about 10 years ago, I do them very conservatively. I did a little search on the web and found Wikipedia describes not only a whole array of types of squats, but five differe...

Hi, Ducks! I survived snow camping this weekend, two nights of mighty cold...it was 5 degrees when we got up this morning! My finger tips are still sore (after 7 hours back indoors) and a bit achy and tired but otherwise just fine. Our camp area was near a stopping point for migrating geese, so we w...

Greetings, Ducks! The encouragement you all show for each other is terrific and has a ripple effect on us all, I'm sure. Someone said, "Men use the internet for information, women use it for community." Ain't it the truth. Nordic, the eider is just beautiful, great picture. How fun to read your pers...

Gel seat?
Gel seat? Is that something C2 carries? I have a model C and the seat has built in foamy stuff that doesn't really do the trick. I have two pieces of egg carton foam on it which help but I'd be interested in something better. Can you let me know who carries seats?
Thanks!
Cindy
Thanks!

I third that! I started having knee pain (just below knee toward inside). I thought I was using good form but moved an old mirror over next to my erg...and discovered I was going well past perpendicular. Watching form like a hawk, at the end of that 10k, no knee pain!! I keep the mirror there and ke...
