Re: Post Marathon recovery
thanks for the input.
I ended up at a 5k today. Last night I ate ALOT of good food and didnt have any adverse effects like last time, which I would call being out of focus/haziness. I assume I underate after the last half I rowed.

Post Marathon recovery
I tried searching and got 7300 results! Well, I should say post half-marathon recovery. My last half I recall being pretty out of it the first 3 days in the week. Sundays are my long row day usually 15-16k MWF is 9x1min intervals HIIT 3 sets, and TR are cardio rows of 10k or less depending on feel. ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
Did a 15k last week. Beat my time this week by about a second each split and added 500m. Glutes were crampin a bit but made it thru. I suppose i still have a ways to go. For someone 6'2 i use foot pedal setting on "2" is that normal?

Re: Stuff to watch while rowing?

When I find myself getting board I like to do math and figure out just how many songs i have left. 3 mins a song 7k left 2:10 pace etc.. etc... If that doesnt work then GRIT. lol. the worst is if the washer is running ...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
WOW Wrez nice job! congrats You make my 500 look like childs play! Congrats on that 500, besides raw power, you also lack fitness, rate 29 is very low for such a piece. So there is also lots of room left. Thanks hjs. Good to know! I know you've been in my other post and agree with your comments as a...

Re: New Personal Best! Brag About That New Pb!
havent done a 500m time trial since i started rowing on Jan 6th. time then was 1.53.7 i should have done a 100M avg so it printed better but I could not best 1.40 split time the whole row which is disappointing since I'm most likely maxed on power which means I have a LONG way to go. But none the le...

Re: What Training Have You Done Today?
Fun day today. 7K today a repeat of monday week 5 beginners pete plan. I have been continually increasing the distance the lowering my avg split time. now at 2:26/500 started at 2:35 all while keeping the heart under 80% except the last 500M. If I keep improving i ought to be at 2:15 avg split/500m ...

Re: Heart Rate Monitor for PM5?
Get a Garmin ANT+ chest strap, they are awesome. This gives you your HR on the screen on the monitor and a great live graph in RowPro and all the HR data you need at the end of each split. The graph in RowPro is particularly useful as you can look at the "Slope" as your heartrate drifts with intens...

Re: newb question/stroke power
Alright I went and saw a coach from the local rowing club. good news is stroke was mostly ok. Areas for improvement were keeping my back straight instead of haunched, bring legs perpindicular to the ground and leaning forward at the catch. It did not occur to me I should get the chain back to starti...

Re: newb question/stroke power
Hi mark, yes i pressed more from the legs as suggested by one of the posts. It sounds to me that 80% of HR is what I want, and eventually my watts can increase as my HR stays normal. I agree VERY fun. I am far from a patient person by any means, just not in my profile. However I am willing to put th...
