Re: Trouble with torso movement. Video critique.
Thanks all. There is a lot of discussion about hands. I got the side shot video that folks said I should. The video is taken at the last set of a 7-6-5-4-3-2-1 minute ladder with the last set being the highest spm and lowest split of a progression. 32spm and 1:34/500m split. [VIDEO: https://youtu.be...

Re: Trouble with torso movement. Video critique.
you are still tucking your hand under . Hey @markinnb, thank you for pointing that out, I had definitely glossed over that as I was thinking about the catch, not the finish. I am not sure how to correct what you are talking about. Should I be keeping my elbows in more? Finishing with the handle low...

Re: Trouble with torso movement. Video critique.
Thanks guys. @Tim K. I know that flexibility is an issue. It is good to hear that you have had success with stretches. I'll definitely try to incorporate more straight back hamstring stretches. @jackarabit I am able to maintain the 2:1 or 3:1 at lower stroke rates, but am unsure how to speed up spm ...

Trouble with torso movement. Video critique.
A couple weeks ago I got some feedback on my stroke [VIDEO https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooq2kMPkoFA] Main issues highlighted were overcompression, knees too wide and back too rigid on recovery. I think that I have corrected the above three issues, except for overcompression [VIDEO https://youtu.b...

Re: Form Critique Please
You are over compressing a little at the catch but not too bad. Remember shins perpendicular. A little more body angle at the catch wouldn't hurt. It looks like you're a little bit too upright (but that could be camera angle). Relax on the recovery. You look very stiff coming out of the finish. Try...

Re: Form Critique Please
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated as I still have 6 weeks to fix things before the Crash-Bs. You should ask the gym for two things: 1. Move all of those ergos 30cm further forward away from the wall 2. Change their choice of music Music was definitely not my choice! hahaha When we do sprint...

Form Critique Please
Thank you all in advance for the feedback. 6 weeks ago I started rowing again after 15 years off and want to ensure I get my technique right to avoid injury. I was having issues at the higher stroke rates (still am), that I have been able to improve upon with the feedback I received 3 weeks ago. htt...

Re: Maintaining splits at different/higher stroke rates
So I tried rowing strapless and I think it highlighted some spots where I was going wrong. I forced me to sit up a bit straighter and lift my chest at the finish of my drive as well as get my hands away a lot faster. I did a 25 minute ladder at approx 2:00 split with 5 minute stroke rate intervals (...

Re: Maintaining splits at different/higher stroke rates
They definitely meant lbs x 1.8 = Watt target. As I am 197, I used 360W as my target and was fine for 500m. 1:38 splits is my target for the Crash Bs in 2 months, but I need to fix whatever it is that is causing me to pull on straps over 27 spm.

Re: Maintaining splits at different/higher stroke rates
Thanks for the feedback. I response to some of the questions: 1. At lower stroke rates I feel like my technique is fine, it is at the higher spm that it goes to hell. I am just starting to erg although I competed on the water 15 years ago. The group I train with does time intervals at varying stroke...

Maintaining splits at different/higher stroke rates
I have been doing a lot of ladders with varying stroke rates, but having a lot of trouble at the higher stroke rates. I am either: 1. pulling too hard and burning myself out, 2. breaking the knees too soon or pulling on the straps with my feet, and/or 3. shorten my stroke in order to maintain the hi...
