Re: Damper setting

Bob and Ergmeister: Thank you for the detailed replies. Very helpful! I'm going to move from 10 to 5 and see how that feels. I'm slowly returning to rowing after a long absence and want to do it right.

Re: Damper setting

Using the Concept2 machine at my local LA Fitness and don't know what setting or purpose of the damper is for. I see it is 1 to 10 and it's always set at 10 so that's what I've been doing. Any advice and/or information would be appreciated. Thank you.

First day on the C2 in 2 weeks due to work issues. Very low motivation and downright lousy attitude. 3 x 2000m at 8:33, 8:32 and 8:39. The last 2000m was tough- wanted to quit after 500m but resisted temptation.

Next session can only be better!

3 x 10:00 2:07, 2:05 and 2:06

New way of doing intervals for me; I usually do sets by distance instead of time but I think I like time better. Anyway, good change of pace to keep it fresh.

New pb for 5000m of 20:43! I concentrated on a steady 2:05/500m until the final 500 and then went all out. Felt pretty good with an avg HR of 144 and a max of 163.

jamesg- interesting to compare watt to HR. I have never looked at it that way and don't even use that unit setting when I erg. Have you seen a chart that compares watt/HR? I've read articles involving professional cyclists and they've referred to wattage as a way to measure power output so I can see...

Being new to erging, I did my longest session ever of 8500 m at 37:26 for an average of 2:12/500. Felt pretty decent and made a real effort to keep my pace steady during the entire session. Usually I start out too fast and then hang on desperately for the end. Should be ready to try a 10,000m in a f...

Comparing Heart Rates to activites

I'm new to rowing with only about 2 months experience but I have some questions concerning HR compared to other activites. For me, rowing and cycling have similar HR results. I typically avg 140 bpm and a max of 160 for each activity for a 30-60 minute session. However, when I run my HR is much high...
