I'm 19 and I row competitively in college. My goal for next year is to break our boathouse record 2k time of 6:14. My PR in January was 6:29 but I could probably beat that now.

My overall goal for collegiate rowing (3 years of eligibility left) is to go sub 6:00 for a 2k.

I went from a 7:11 last September, to a 6:29 at the beginning of January, and I haven't done a 2k since then, but I could probably be around a 6:20 now (It's been all on the water training, and lifting since then).

It can be done, you just have to want it badly enough.

I like 2ks. They hurt like nothing else, but the feeling after a PR is great.

My wife took this video when we first got our C2. You can see a few seconds of my technique at the beginning and end. Maybe you can see what I'm doing wrong in it. Thanks. Kevin You need to get your arms back over your knees before you break your knees on the recovery, and don't pause at the finish...

One workout my team had to do was 20min then 5 min rest, but you couldn't get off the erg you had to keep rowing very lightly, and we had to do this 3 times without getting off the erg once. The second piece I kept my heart rate around a 180 for about 19 minutes, and then pushed it up to a 185-190 f...

For my 2ks, I hold my target split, and then the last 500m I absolutely go for broke and empty myself completely. The last 2k I did I held about a 1:38 for 1500m, and then pushed it down to a 1:36 for the next 300, and about a 1:30 for the last 200. Needless to say, I was beyond spent after I was do...
